Stayed for first two weeks in April (rained almost on a daily basis and barely saw the sun!) Villas were nicely furnished and decorated tho the food didnt satisfy the 5 star criteria. The "private beach" was atrocious with rocks and pebbles and it is definitely NOT a place to swim. The hotel was very isolated from rest of the town hence needed a separate transportation which took approx 15 mins to the city- quite an inconvenience if you are planning on activities. Highly recommended if you are planning on just staying within the resort with a large number of pax or a family since kitchen provided and willing to go for neither with lack of food selection nor a swimmable beach. Must admit the villas were spectacular albeit numerous flooding in the bathroom (took them 3 days to fix). Suggest to go for less expensive resorts near the main street if looking for abundant activities and great seafood (very economical vs. hotel's overly priced mediocre dishes) or if you are looking for a relaxing tranquil getaway definitely go elsewhere on the island. FYI, avoid the spa!!! Better professional treatment available in the city with 1/10th of the price.

As anyone who has read any of my previous reviews knows I’m very fussy however so far as Karma Samui was concerned I had no major complaints.
On arrival we were greeted by the manager and told our room was ready (we had arrived 2 hours before check in time). We were taken to our villa by a gracious member of staff where we were checked in. We were upgraded to three bedroom villa which was especially good considering the discounted room rate we had paid.
The villa was spacious with a slightly obscured view of the sea however we were over looked by no one and it was generally a private space. Only one slight winge – there was no toilet off the main living area so you had a bit of a walk after a few beers.
The spa was ok the treatment was good but the facilities a little cramped.
The food at the restaurant was good with a range of wacky cocktails- ‘spit roasted Mekong mary’ being one (don’t think too long about the name).
All in all this hotel is well worth the money excellent service, handy for Chaweng Beach but still with a sense of being away from it. If I was the sort of person who stayed at hotels more than once I’d definitely be back – keep up the good work!

From start to finish, we were treated like royalty. The location is perfect, away from busy Chaweng, yet only 5 mins away by car. You get collected by them in a lovely car, with water and cold towels. It is only 5 mins from the airport, so that's easy. On arrival you are taken by buggy to your villa.

The villa's are out of this world! Our pool had an amazing sea view, the pool was huge, I had expected a plunge pool. It was cleaned every other day. The kitchen/dinner was huge and having the utility room was handy, I managed to wash all our clothes before we left. The villa's are cleaned twice a day, they even change the water in the kettle! We have stayed in many 5 star resorts, this was one of the most impressive. You do really get the best of both worlds, all the conveniences of a hotel, but with a fully equiped villa. We have stayed at the Sala Samui before. Which is nice, but the villa's is just one room and a small plunge pool. Karma villa kitchen/dinner alone is the size of 3 sala villa's!
When booking do ask if there is a pond outside any of the bedrooms and if it has frogs in. We had very loud frogs!
Try and get breakfast included in your price.
The staff are amazing! The resort manager Kris is great, we had a couple of bad meals out, from then we only ate at places he recommended, they were all very good. To name a few were, eat sense, kanda buri and muda house.
We ate at dinning on the rocks at the sixth sense resort, it was the worst meal I have ever eaten! There were 2 of us, no drinking and shared dessert it was 6000 barth (over £100). We live in london and frequently go to Gordon Ramsay restaurants, so are not afraid of paying a lot of money and enjoy really good food! There were ants crawling on our plate, the food was totally sub standard, please don't waste your money!!

My boyfriend and I were lucky enough to be welcomed to Karma Samui! From arrival to departure the team at Karma were absolutely fabulous. The resort manager, Mark is a fellow Australian and very welcoming, everything you would expect from a brilliant hotel manager. After having an unpleasant stay in another resort prior to coming to Karma, he went out of his way to help us out by arranging our stay at such short notice, and during peak season(new years). The rooms were gorgeous, we had a 3 bedroom pool villa, complete with full kitchen, laundry, and of course our lovely pool. The grounds itself were lovely, and from memory I think there were 3 other pools around the resort also. As we were there NYE we had the gala dinner which was prepared for by their Italian chef, and let me just say it was everything we'd hoped for and more- absolutely divine! Each meal we had there was fabulous.
Michael the front of house manager was so accomodating, suggesting great things for us to see and do, and places to, of course eat at! We had the most lovely lunch, garlic pepper prawns-yum! A place frequented by locals for the fresh seafood! Cant wait to go back for them again...
Each night our rooms were turned down with a sweet gift and note of suggestions for the prior day according to the weather forecast. Every little detail was taken care of, including the staff who would always greet us by name.
V nice resort, would be just as fabulous with a group of people or family, specially as the option to be self sufficient in your villa is also there. Not the kind of atmosphere if u want to party all day and night as the beach area is quite secluded. The area was fabulous tho, not even a 10 min drive to Chaweng which was great also, an area we liked to visit for drinks n dinners.
Loved the library- a modern hotel in Chaweng, we had dinner there on the deck-beachside, yum food and a great change from the "typical" resorts
We look forward to our return to Karma
