We were camping just down the road and drove past this amazing looking hotel restaurant with its beautiful outdoor dining area so we decided to return for dinner. On arrival the manager seemed a little shocked and annoyed that we had turned up without booking but we got a table in the patio and ordered a very tasty and fruity rose. The manager seemed quite bothered by our apparent unacceptable level of French (which had not been an issue anywhere else on our 10 day trip) but he took our order and presented us with a rather nice appetiser. We ordered a confit duck which was very good and the veal with sweetbread which was one on the best dishes of the trip.
Over all the manager kind of took the shine off what could of been a brilliant experience (maybe he was just having a bad day as other people have said he was great) but the setting and the food made it all very worth while.
