An ideal place for lunch and afternoon tea. Great to sit outside when the weather permits. You can easily spend 2 - 3 hours here. A good slection of classic and vintage cars to drool over with a few motorbikes and scooters thrown in. Some nice shops for the ladies as well. The food is good and the staff are very pleasant, dressed in 50s style.

Visited with some friends on Sunday 12 Nov. 2017, been a few months since our last visit, but the quality, and service are still up there with the best. As a result the atmosphere is terrific, everyone friendly and enjoying themselves.
I notice the whole experience, is relocating in the near future, and really hope all the great things about The Carding Shed and Oil Can Cafe will be retained.
In the meantime do not hesitate to pay a visit and experience some genuine North Country hospitality, along with really wonderful food and drink.
Our friends were on their first visit, but so impressed they bought gift vouchers for their friends as Christmas Presents.
PS. Hope one is for us.

I have visited many times and like to take visiting family & friends here from all over the country.
We went for breakfast on Sunday and it is definitely not up to its usual standard. Firstly the waiting staff no longer come to take your order but you have to queue at the till to order although they do bring your food to you. We went for breakfast which we have had many times here and the mushrooms are now tinned and the sausages have changed to some skinny ones that are not as good but I suppose this could be personal preference. All three of us ordered tea with our breakfasts and we only received one pot which was the same size as we have previously received for two.
I would say that the breakfast has gone from being something worth having a drive out for to something very average but saying that it is definitely worth a visit if you haven't been for just to take in the charming surroundings.

This establishment is situated in an old mill building, and is therefore quite large in area. As well as the excellent large cafe/restaurant, this complex houses a working engineering garage, specialising in race car preparations and classic car restorations. The garage business area has fantastic display of garage workshop memorabilia, as well as a considerable display of classic, vintage and unusual cars ....... but there is yet more !! - in the form of several outlet shops, mainly specialising in antique & vintage clothing.
Altogether, a considerable and quite unique combination of features - enough to keep a whole family entertained - and well worth a visit .......
Ps - Staff informed us that the whole complex (apart from the garage engineering services section) is due to move to new accommodation within Holmfirth itself, sometime during 2018.
