We went on the South Coast trip- an hour, flying past Gatwick airport and then over Brighton and Beachy Head, returning over fabulous Surrey countryside. Amazing experience, made better by Tim, the pilot, who was confident, knowledgable and fun. Highly recommended!

I brought a flying experience for my partner for his 30th, he had previously flown with EBG and always said he really enjoyed it so we decided to go with them again, from the booking through to arriving was second to none. He had a flight experience with Tim who was so welcoming and very chatty and made us all feel welcome. My partner had a great time and hasn’t stopped speaking about it since. What topped it off was our son who follows his dad’s love for helicopters was allowed to sit in it and have his picture taken. (When safe to do so). Highly recommend and we will be back!!

We flew with EBG Helicopters as part of my proposal plans and it was great.

Tim, who was our pilot, was very helpful and accommodating. He had good insights on where we went and was really funny, to boot (just don’t call him Timmy or you’d be in trouble ). Get Captain Tim as your pilot if you get the chance! Highly recommended!

All in all, we got great views of London - and I got a “yes”!

Worrying start. Our advance instructions told us how to park airside but that our insurance would not be valid, and we could not get information on how to park landside. On the day (we parked airside, without drama) our pilot, Tim, was late having been delayed by a previous assignment. However … the EBG staff were welcoming. Their profuse apologies were not necessary; the delay simply added to the sense of occasion. I have been flying since I was 2 years old but never in a helicopter; this flight was a 70th birthday present from my family.

Tim arrived and, with safety briefing over and the 4 passengers (2 sons and nephew as well as me) in our seats, pre-flight began. The police helicopter landed next to us then Tim eased us into the air; we pirouetted neatly and ambled slowly (at what seemed like head height) to the take-off line. After so many years in fixed wing aeroplanes, my senses screamed that flying machines didn’t work like this! Then, a sharp acceleration and climb. Tim, with the wry humour he had already shown pre-flight, started indicating points of interest as we headed for Richmond. Suddenly we were over the Thames and turned to follow its course. The day was bright and sunny, and the views astonishing, despite the haze. Our cameras could not keep up with the procession of famous buildings and scenes below. We cruised past the Shard, more or less in line with its top. Then, a sharp bend in the river at the Isle of Dogs. Again my senses kicked in; aircraft don’t do right-angle turns. But this one did, like a cross between a plane and a go-kart.

Far too soon we were approaching Redhill again. More sense-defying turns, and we landed neatly on the pad. Altogether a fantastic experience. And, to round it off, EBG gave me a birthday present; completely unexpected but very welcome. And classy.

Thanks for the great review, Fixed wing pilots often question how the helicopter flies as its a very different and unusual experience compared to a plane, however if you ever fancy a lesson please get in touch and ill be happy to explain how these magnificent machines fly and let you have a go at flying it. With regards to the parking, we shall try and make the instructions clearer and add additional diagrams to air side and roadside car parks. Hope you had a great birthday.
