After I spent three days here with family & friends, I came home and spent a week researching all the Caribbean Islands for a place like this to relax and trust me, you won't find anything even close.

Why is this place so special?
Small hotel with 6+ rooms. You get your personal butler, room bar is very generously loaded with soft drinks, snacks, lot of Italian Spring water, and even beer and spirits. We didn't touch spirits but consumed everything else and they were filled each day and sometimes couple of times and no charges. Included breakfast includes unlimited choices from menu. Amazing coffee in the room. Room furniture and outdoor balcony settings uses eye pleasing modern high quality furniture and sheets.

You are feet away from water and your lounge chairs are set in complete shade. You have outdoor shower and faucet to rinse off your sandy feet. Your butlet is constantly filling your water jug and checking on your needs while you are relaxing on the beach. We ordered lot of food there and it was all very delicious and not the cheesy oily beach food you get elsewhere.

The beach itself is probably the best it can be anywhere. Crystal clear calm water, easy and good shore snorkeling and you even see turtles. Lot of boat tours come here to show turtles. Also, couple of motor boat tours drop by to check if you are interested.

Our kids and friends all had time of our life on this beach. I never think of going to same location again. But, this place deserves many visits and to me, it beat my previous best beach destinations like Tulum and West side beach at Roatan.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the right side while facing the beach

We stayed in the Cadillac Room for 11 nights, last week in October and first week in November. The room is absolutely spectacular.Whilst the other rooms are nice this is the room that makes the Lone Star extra special.
All the staff without exception are lovely, nothing is too much trouble, they are friendly and attentive without making you feel uncomfortable. We must give a special mention to Kristian who arranged everything we wanted or needed without really noticing he was around, exactly what you want.
The Lone Star restaurant is there to use all day and evening when you want, Having breakfast, mid morning cocktails, lunch and afternoon drinks in the restaurant or on the Cadillac's terrace helps make this a special place to stay.
The only downside for us was the position of the beach beds, They really need to look at this, more beds are needed to the Lincoln side and the two tables on the beach in the small recessed area need removing to stop non residents using them.
This could easily be a problem .On a couple of occasions in late afternoon it was taken over by a couple of families , luckily we had left the beach at that time. Remove the tables and the problem would probably go away.
Overall this is a very relaxing place to stay, a fabulous room with fabulous views, excellent service, lovely beach where we were lucky enough to have turtles and rays swimming round us

We had a 5 day stay here at the beginning of August and it was wonderful. The pictures don't quite do it justice when you are there.
We stayed in the Studebaker, which was facing the beach and a stones throw from the restaurant where we had our inclusive breakfast every morning. A good choice and very sizeable portons.
Very clean, comfortable rooms with complimentary rum punch which went down very well ☺

All the staff were very friendly and efficient, especially Kristan who kept us fully hydrated with beer, rum sours etc throughout our stay! Also the lovely Beverly who was always smiling and friendly.

It's the type of place where you can stay without the need to venture out at all. We had a very large, comfortable terrace which you could curtain off for more privacy. Perfect views to watch sunrise and sunset.

My only negative is that we didn't have long enough there. So we will certainly be back for a longer stay!

Once again we used our Travel Agent, Angelfish Travel, and they did not disappoint.
We had visited Lonestar before for dinner so knew all about the excellent service, food and location but this time we chose to stay in one of their seven rooms for five nights.
Everything was five star and special mention to Dondru, Beverley and Kristan. The team are friendly and very efficient. We had breakfast and lunch at the hotel each day and dinner twice. The extensive menu makes decision making difficult and the location is distracting !! There is a nice bar area for pre dinner cocktails prepared by Anthony and David.
Rooms are of a good size and nicely furnished but my only criticism is that there is no back up generator for the hotel. Only for the kitchen and restaurant. Unfortunately there were 2 power cuts in 2 days and at night time sleeping without AC or a fan is very difficult.
Beds in the beach are allocated to each room so there is no rush to grab beds in the morning!

We will return....

The Lone Star is a restaurant with rooms but a very special place. There are only a few rooms but it make for a perfect boutique style hotel which sits right on the beach in a lovely West coast location. We stayed for 3 nights in Shelby - one of 3 rooms which make up the Beach House - an old restored stone building which was full of character and led on to a garden with direct access to the beach and sea. We visited the East coast for 2 days as Lone Star was full and then returned for 3 nights in the modern side of the hotel where there were 3 rooms too - we stayed in Buick a wonderful modern spacious room with direct access and views onto the beach. Breakfast was fantastic and in Buick we were able to get it served on out terrace. Lunch and dinner were very good too - the Lone Star has a great reputation for the food and it lives up to it. Staff were helpful and polite and Liesal who organised our stay was very good at making sure there were no problems. During the day Kristan checked we had everything we needed which was a nice touch.

The only one downside, reiterated in other reviews, is that non residents constantly using private facilities meant for guests especially the outside shower immediately in front of the Buick private terrace and the staff appeared unable to stop it.

Overall though we had a fantastic stay and would highly recommend Lone Star.
