We stumbled upon Cable o Leary's in Ballinskellings when one of our part was getting hangry. The pub has both a sleepy low ceiling pub in the front and an expansive viewed restaurant and patio for dining in the back. It was the summertime with a clear view of the islands which for half an hour was a real slice of paradise. Food was a little more expensive than I expected but I guess we were a captive audience.

Visited with friends and had a great night, craic .. the atmosphere is very much traditional with the locals very friendly and engaging. Fare very good honest hotel/pub and reasonable. If you stay late .. across road can get fresh fish & chips you would die for .. David Walsh dips the fresh fish in a light tempura batter .. yum! We'll be back!

Myself and my family recently stayed in ballinskelligs for a week. Food here was grand but limited. We later found out there is no chef so that would explain the standard food... but saying that it was grand. The staff are very lazy. We had to go to the bar to order after being seated for 20 mins while they walked passed us. 1/10 for the staff. All in all though it was ok.

Stopped by for a late lunch and ordered fish and chips. We sat overlooking the bay - great view. Wonderful service and the food was really good. The fish had a parsley batter and was served with nice chips and a refreshing salad. All very fresh.
