Il Salicone is a fabulously restored old stone farmhouse. The property has a vineyard and small winery. In addition to making nice wine, they make vinegar, olive oil and honey. It isn't an agritourism but a great place to relax with friends and family. The building has three floors, a huge kitchen, and grounds to wander. I went there for a workshop and would love to go back with friends or family for holiday. Loved going on walks in the early morning. About 10 or so minutes from Pistoia, a nice town to explore with a daily fruit/vegetable market. Each Wednesday. From Pistoia, you can catch the regional train to Lucca, a walled city worthy of a visit (and actually a place to book a night or two). I can't say enough good things about Il Salicone. If you are looking for a city and lots of things to do, this wouldn't be for you. If looking for relaxation and exploration, don't miss out!

Room Tip: You can't have a bad room!

My Husband and I stayed at the villa for a week form Aug 29th with our family and friands, and got married and held the full event in the villa and surrounding gardens.
What can i say, it was amazing and Nicoletta (the owner) could not have been more helpful and accomodating.
The villa its self has soo much space, but you wil spend your time out door if the weather is permitting. Beds and rooms are all substantial and the bathrooms are ver moders and very clean. The huge staircase is long way to climb but we all found it beautiful and worht the effort.
The pool is 400m away form the house and a great size, but it keeps the noise down in the the villa.
Not that it would stop me going back, but be warned that we did get bitten a lot from the mozzies!!! take spray and cream!!
If you ahve a group and want to visit Tuscany its a great base for all places...Pisa/Lucca. Montecatini (great town), Pistoia, Florence, Siena, San Gimini etc.... we did it all....Fantastic!
