We stayed at the Alimounda Mare between 16-20 September.
Overall, it is a very nice hotel located only a few minutes from the port of Pigadia which offers a veriety of nice restaurants and small shops.
We stayed at an upgraded room on the 2nd floor which has a nice view of the beautiful sea and pool. The room was quite big, comfortable and quite clean. The TV is hidden behind the mirror. A nice gimmick, but not very practial because it can be watched only when the room is totally dark. The TV remote control also didn't work very well.
The staff is very kind, especially at the reception desk and the restaurant. Breakfast was very good with a nice variety of good food.
We took three different treatments at the spa which were also very good. However, we were dissapointed to find out that any use of the spa facilities, such as the jacuzzi, costed 10€ even for visitors using the spa for treatments which are not very cheap, as well.
The gym has a few facilities, some of them could use better maintanance and repair.
Although a lovely hotel, it has several additional problems.
First, it has a very strict towels' policy which doesn't allow the visitors to use towels from the rooms at the beach and pool. Although this policy might be justified, one cannot understand why the hotel's visitors must go through the spa located on the bottom floor in order to get a towel to be used at the pool and beach. A possible solution could be to offer towels at the entrance to the pool.
Last but not least, I was surprised to find out (following a security problem with my credit card) that the copies of the visitors' credit cards taken for security reasons are kept unlocked in drawers at the reception. I was told that the reception is never kept unattended, but I still find it irresponsible that such sensitive materials are kept unlocked.
In sum, nice hotel, but they have to go the extra mile to deserve the 5-stars.

The towel station is located in the lower floor where guests can obtain fresh blue towels they can use on the beach and pool areas . The use of room white towels is only allowed in the rooms for reasons of hygiene.
Photocopies of credit cards are kept at the reception under key and the constant surveillance of our staff and the hotel CCTV system. It would be advisable for guests to exercise extreme caution when they make use of their credit cards.....

We stayed at the Alimounda for 4 days and it was an amazing stay!!
Hotel staff is smiley and attentive, ready to help with any question or request.
I would like to specially thank Anastasia who was helpful with giving us great tips and insights for traveling the island, choosing dining places and more, that made our trip :)
Also Yanis, for the amazing breakfast omlets and for sharing with me your home made special chilli (even gave me some to take home)
The front desk who heard we are having our wedding anniversary and sent us champagne and a huge plate of fruits with a blessing card to the room, thank you.

The pool is one of the most beautiful pools I've seen (infinity pool with best view of the bay and Port) and the sun beds are the most comfortable ones I ever experienced

The Port is just a few minutes walk with nice walk area, fresh air and lots of great tavernas to eat at

Thank you again for a perfect vacation, we will definitely be back

Having read through a lot of the prose and cons of this hotel we chose it for it seemed to have the best of what we wanted. Have now been here for the last four days with six adults and two children, it would be difficult to find a better hotel. This place has nearly everything we wanted, located in a cove not far from town though getting to town is a bit of adventure (badly paved footpaths). The most important thing for us was to have a relaxing time with no stress this place ticks all the boxes, clean rooms, breakfast one of the best, staff service well a few so called 5 stars can go on a course here,we planned a birthday party for the Sunday night for 14 was there a problem for a cake and a place to have a little bit of bubbley no problems it took 10 minutes to get the situation sorted. From my group and my experience I cannot rate this hotel more highly. 5 stars from us.

It is a beulaytiful hotel with exquisite view of the sea, strategically located near the center of the capital of Karpathos (Pigadia). The rooms are clean and spacious and the pool enormous. The breakfast meets every demand and it is delicious. However, a great number of the staff are foreigners and do not know much about the Greek hospitality. The atmosphere is cold and indifferent. If you are a Greek, you have to know English to communicate. In addition, the hotel does not care about your opinion as they will not ask you to fill out a survey as they do in the case of other tourists. If you are a foreigner, you will not experience the real Greek hospitality.

It's really difficult for me to describe just how perfect this hotel is, but I will give it a try. Everything about our stay was superb. We had the waterfront sea view room which we strongly recommend, even though it is slightly more expensive, but well worth it! The room is very spacious and very clean. The beds are very comfortable as well. The pools is perfect. Great temperature, well serviced and bed space is always available no matter how packed the hotel is. The staff are extremely friendly all over the hotel. They made our trip so much more enjoyable. They were always helpful and always willing to help, even when it came to certain recommendations on the island (beaches, restaurants...etc). We ended up making a few new friends at the hotel even! The food is delicious regardless of where you eat. The breakfast is perfect with a massive selection of different options. We never ate dinner at the hotel, or had the lunch buffet, but I can tell you everything on the menu was super delicious. The location is very convenient. There is a supermarket 2 minutes walk from the hotel. The town is around a 10 minute walk from the hotel. The walk to the town is perfect because you get to explore all the little shops on the way to the port. We strongly recommend this hotel to any visitor to the island. Trust me it will make the trip.
