Went there for dinner following a warm recommendation from friends of ours. Nice location. Small restaurant with tables around the nicely lit swimming pool.

Set three course menu every evening. Local dishes. At the time of booking, as it was a birthday celebration dinner, the owner offered to prepare a birthday cake for us. Fantastic!

However, on arrival we were told that they had no reservations for us. A table was hastily prepared with no great enthusiasm. By then the restaurant was less than a quarter full. Not enough menus could be found for us. Two menus for five people. One of the starters had already run out.

Extremely slow service even to get a jug of water! Long after our main course, we were presented with a desert menu, I then reminded them of the owner’s offer of a birthday cake. Both waiting and kitchen staff then complained bitterly to us that nothing had been prepared because they had not been told anything by their management. So their management was to blame not them. When paying the bill, the chef came out of the kitchen and produced a note she had just found a note advising her of the arrangements which were meant for us. A little too late…. Whatever mis-communication between management and staff, the customer should not be dragged into it.
The food was of a decent standard, presentation could be refined and improved. The plates need to be brought to and taken away from the table with far more care and consideration for the customer.

Having asked for a take away “doggy bag” from one main course, we arrived at home to find a bag with only an empty container and some paper napkins! No attention to detail.

An open plan kitchen can work very well, but it really needs to look clean and tidy.
All in all, a very disappointing experience.

Treat yourself! Excellent getaway for the weekend. Very tastefully decorated, spacious and simply très chic. Big balcony facing the bay. It is worth getting up in the morning to see the sunrise. Try the restaurant aswell! Daily changing menue. For extra wishes speak to the chef first.

Very happy with our choice to stay here. We upgraded to an ocean view room at a discount offered by Damien who was very nice and even spoke English. The views from the room were incredible as we sat on the patio with a glass of wine. The room had all the amenities, refrigerator, microwave, A/C, and a comfortable king bed. Highly recommend this hotel.

This is a late review as we stayed at Hotel Fregate Bleue in December 2015. Initially, this property gave me pause because it had received some earlier negative reviews. There has been a change in owners when we stayed there. Yes, it is an older property and needs some work but overall we had a relaxing and enjoyable stay, and did not encounter any issues. This isn't a luxury hotel but I think it suits self-catering travelers really well. The rooms are spacious and ours had an incredible deck (with an equipped kitchen and dining area). The room was clean. The bathroom is on the small side with a "phone-booth" style shower.

The hotel is 25-30 minutes drive from Martinique's airport and commercial center. A car is necessary since the island does not have a good public transportation system and you will need it to go to the beaches. The hotel was a bit challenging to find as it is tucked away from the main road - you would have to drive through a narrow road that goes downhill with some tricky maneuvering and extra careful driving - but we didn't mind it. There are restaurants and supermarkets nearby.

The owner and his staff were all friendly and helpful.

We stayed here for two nights before our sailing holiday from Martinique and found it to be a rather delightful place. There are not the corporate hotels in Martinique and so the local hotels all have character. The new owner is working hard to make this hotel a success and we were comfortable and pleased with our stay. Our room was huge and airy and had a wonderful view over the sea. Yes, it is rather rough around the edges but that is part of the charm of the place. Thank you.
