I will not make a comment on the Aeolian Gaea, I'll let the pictures speak for me. The place is an oasis of peace away from crowded areas, is located in the center of the island. All the best from ROMANIA to family Theodorou !

Skala Kallonis is very central on Lesbos so it's definitely a place you'll consider making your base if you want to see the island, I recommend renting a car. As usual we didn't do it in time but the family running the hotel arranged it with a rental agency they could recommend in Kalloni. The family running the hotel is very nice and helpful and you really feel that you're visiting them, they really make the visit enjoyable. Very clean. Free WiFi. The pool is fine. Breakfast is a real highlight with several homemade jams, eggs from the familys own hens, homemade loukoumades, fresh fruit etc. I don't know if you have a view of the sea from the apartments on the 1st (top) floor, but on the other hand, they tend to get much hotter in the afternoon. Wheelchair/pram access on the ground floor. The beach and restaurants are 400 m away, the beach is very sheltered so it's good for swimming with small kids, the water is shallow for a long time. On the downside, the water could be cleaner but it's like that in the whole Kalloni Bay. Obviously, other beaches are cleaner but waves are much rougher and the sea quickly gets deep.

Room Tip: View of the sea from the apartments on the 1st floor, but maybe much hotter because they're directly under the roof.

Our 4th visit to this hotel and such a warm welcome from the family. As always, the hotel, grounds, pool and apartments were lovely.

Apartments are a good size and are services every day, cleanliness is good. Breakfast options are good.

Location is great, just a 10 min walk into village. Very peaceful and quiet, our own little slice of heaven.

An emotional farewell, we will be returning

Although surrounding area and the building Itself has potentials, a renovation is needed asap not only to the buildings but to the mentality of its managers.

You can see the signs of the years passed even inside the rooms where the paint has been removed and steins of humidity are visible.

Blankets coming from the 80's whilst windows mosquito guards are ripped and ready to collapse...

An extra pillow was available in the room but without pillowcase...

Safe was out if order

Balconies dirty with dead insects and bathroom equipment (bathtub / shower) broken and malfunctioning.

Rooms are rather big and equipped with necessaries / basics.

Pool is big and nice however lack of maintenance is also visible.

Wifi is working pretty good with good coverage at all areas.

Breakfast is rather poor for a 4 star hotel.
You can also see '80s equipment used to store the offered breakfast.
Boiled eggs were directly from the...Refrigerator....
Coffee is not a good option as the machine serves not potable black water...
If you chose to ask for a simple nescafe instead a charge of 2 euros is applicable... A freddo cappuccino comes with some 3,5 euros (same you pay at Myconos and at Cafe de Paris at Monaco may be less...)
On the other hand, a nice smell of fresh hot bread with homemade marmalades may make your day.

Despite the fact that this is the most expensive hotel on the island - unreasonably to my opinion as you don't even see the sea and you cannot swim at the nearby beach - you will have to pay 2 euros for each of pool towels you may use!!!!
So, family travelers from Canada pls remember to get one more luggage for your towels !!!

Managers are friendly and really nice people however a new policy compatible to 2016 standards (not only price-wise) should be implemented and a renovation should be planned within 2016-2017 winter.

Our friend got married close by on the island. The staff basically made our entire trip so wonderful. Drinks and food offered at the pool area and only about a ten minute walk from town. Our rooms were a little warm but that's the nature of being in such a warm beautiful island. Such affordable prices and well worth all of our money spent! We Would definitely go back to this hotel.
