The hosts of our B&B near Languidic recommended Fleur de Sel and called ahead not only to make a reservation but also to be sure the chef had it in mind to open. Apparently, there is a steady business mid-day, but the evenings can be slow in this small village, and Amir, the owner/chef prepares evening meals to suit his schedule. In fact, he wanted to know how many were in our party (we were four), which made us wonder has we been only be a party of two if he would have served dinner. In the end, there were only two other guests in the restaurant the whole evening.

Once a table has been reserved, diners are off to a great experience as detailed by previous reviews. Amir was a one man show - waiting on the tables, bartending, preparing the meals, even cleaning up the kitchen. Before we left, he had the lights out in the kitchen! He is a whirlwind of activity in addition to being a terrific chef who has created his own "interpretations" (his term) of many dishes which were all very pleasing. The most tender lamb imaginable served with grated celery root and quinoa was a particular hit.

All of us in our party would highly recommend Fleur de Sel - for the food and the opportunity to engage with a fascinating chef.

My mother lives close to Languidic and I always stop by Fleur de Sel when I visit her. The owner is an Israeli powerhouse of a chef named Amir, who never fails to impress with the quality and presentation of his creations. The restaurant is very clean and the staff friendly. Amir speaks perfect English and comes to the table and explains the menu to English speaking guests. The menu is reasonably priced, changes each week, and includes fresh meats, fish, organic grains and other vegetarian options. The lunch special is a fixed price menu, consisting of a choice of three appetizers, three main courses and three deacadent desserts. ( a la carte ordering is possible as well.)The portions are large and I recommend pacing yourself to save room for dessert.The food is always fresh, feauring local fare, unique spices and tastes.
Outside of offering great meals, Fleur de Sel also offers cooking workshops and wine tastings. I had the chance to attend a cooking workshop last year and was amazed at Amir´s ability to share his passion and humor in both French and English while teaching a group of 8 adults to cook a multi course meal using simple ingredients. Don´t sign up for a course if you want to just watch Amir cook, you will be handed a knife and learn how to prepare every aspect of your meal yourself before sitting down over wine as a group top enjoy it. I had a wonderful time and got to meet some locals.
If you are planning a trip tp Brittany, don´t miss the opportunity to try this hidden gem.

Who would expect to find an Israeli chef who has spent the past twelve years in France perfecting his craft, and is now the proprietor of Fleur de Sel in Lanquidic? Emil’s command of a variety of spices from across the world made for several great meals during our visit to this village. He was a gracious host who came to each table and personally explained the items on the menu and what he was attempting to convey with each dish. It was indeed a enjoyable experience!

We arrived 15 minutes early and were sent away by a mad chef! Kids are prepared a set meal for 8 euros. Adult menu was varied but not extensive which reassured me that it wasn't mass produced. No chips or happy meals here! The food was probably the best I have eaten in France and the portions are an ideal size for three courses. Prices were between 14 and 15 euros per main course. Three course menu for 22 euros. A great place for an evening meal made more entertaining by the mad chef (who speaks excellent English) and attractive waitress!
