You can choose from the cosy bar with roaring fire or the large restaurant overlooking the lawns of the huge pub garden. The Stag has charming staff and a great choice of food. A destination pub that's for sure.

Went to The Stag for a birthday celebration. Starters were very small and not very exciting, as were desserts.Main course of ribeye steak smelt awful and was gristly. Brought this to the attention of the person in charge, who immediately offered to refund the cost of the dish. Service slow and hesitant but there was a large party in as well. Wine list is extensive. Cost of meal was expensive for what was quite an ordinary meal with little atmosphere, maybe we were unlucky?

Meal for 4 adults. Sea bass and the duck was not enough to feed a 5year old.i asked for more duck but was told I could not have any.was offered another meal so had steak, the waiter was clearly irrate by my complaint.my steak and friends steak was tough.asked for a jug of water during the meal and it came during the desert,40mins later.
Was not asked if the food was ok during the meal and not offered drinks either.
Waitress poorly trained in general.I eat out on a regular basis and this is the poorest restaurant I have been to in a long time.

Great choice of menu and lovely decor in pretty village, but restaurant lacked any sole! No atmosphere. Need more welcoming staff and shame the main bar isn't integrated...

Ate here last sunday and were very disappointed.

Starters good!

Sunday lunch - beef good in a couple of portions but in one rather chewy. Veggies good, Yorkshire was lacking somewhat. Main menu ok.

The bar food however looked lovely, so we would eat there if ever we go again.

No atmosphere and we did have to pour our own wine. There is just something missing here. Also the table was quite small for 4 people.

It has now reverted to the stag and is no longer an Italian, didn't really live up to our expectations.

Will try elsewhere in future.
