I always enjoy staying at the Cartwright where the staff are friendly and customer focused. Having stayed on a number of occasions over the past 2 or 3 years I can only recall one occasion when I needed to give anything other than positive feedback. That exception was dealt with promptly in a courteous and concerned manner by the manager. The way it was handled has encouraged me to continue staying. Unlike large modern hotels where every room is the same the Cartwright provide a mix of rooms some of unique character that add to that of the building itself.

Room Tip: The rooms at the front of the hotel are a bit noisier than those in the courtyard to the rear.

Have stayed here a few times now for week long stays with work, I always find it flexible & pleasantly informal with friendly, laid back and authentic staff. Some rooms more modern than others. All comfortable & clean and crucially quiet.

Stayed for one night, arrived very late but was greeted warmly at reception and checked in very quickly. The room (6) was basic, but very spacious. A large bed which was extremely comfortable, a small desk, tv (fairly small to watch in bed but ok!). The bathroom a little dated, but again fine. The walls are quite thin, I could hear snoring from next door, but always travel with ear plugs and then the problem is solved, it's an old building, to be expected! Phone charger next to the bed was handy! The breakfast was fantastic and the service from the lady I presume was the manager was just so amazing it really made my stay, she couldn't do enough to help! I had the full English which she happily delivered to my room, and helped myself to toast, orange juice and cereals also. One thing, please clean the tv remote! I did have a lovely stay, a great sleep and would recommend to others, thank you!

We called in for breakfast yesterday. We were not staying at the hotel. The restaurant is attractive and we were made welcome. We enjoyed our meal.I would particularly recommend the porridge which was delicious.Although busy as they had a lot of guests staying, the service was very helpful ,pleasant and efficient. It is a very pleasant venue in a really attractive village.

Have just left this hotel after staying two evenings to attend our nieces wedding.
We had a mass booking and virtually took over all of the rooms.
The food was presented and served on the Friday evening and no one had to wait, it was hot, with ample proportioning and the chef knows how to cook !
The breakfasts on both mornings didn't let us down either and light lunches, i.e. sandwiches, bar food and drinks were served by courteous friendly staff who were there to please our party.
Now this is a 3 star hotel so anyone expecting hot tubs, spas and 46" tv screens may be disappointed but the very few problems/incidents that did occur were rectified and dealt with in a quiet manner by the very professional Danii, the head receptionist who was there for the whole weekend .
As said, everyone of the staff, including Scott in the bar, helped to make this weekend one to remember.

IF GUESTS EVER HAVE PROBLEMS OR ARE UNHAPPY WHEREVER THEY STAY, PLEASE TALK TO THE STAFF FIRST BEFORE CLOGGING UP TRIP ADVISOR WITH NEGATIVE COMMENTS WHICH DO NOT GIVE THE HOTEL/GUEST HOUSE THE CHANCE TO RECTIFY ...
