We have just returned from a 2 week trip on a bed and breakfast basis at this hotel. We went with another family with three children. The hotel is in a good location, a few minutes walk from shops and the lovely beach. We went to Kata beach first as we thought this was better than Karon beach according to reviews, but they are both lovely and clean and quiet. Our children all did the paraglidng off the beach. The restaurants we liked best were Family Seafood, excellent food and friendly staff. also went to Red Onion because of the reviews, had to queue, food good but Family Seafood opposite was better in our opinion. We also enjoyed Up Seafood further down the road. The Skylight bar was fun and the staff very welcoming including the children ages from 8 to 15 years, they could play pool and board games. We also liked the Terrace bar, upstairs off the street, lovely staff.

Our room at the hotel was really spacious for the four of us and very quiet, hotel pools clean and the grounds are really beautiful.

Happy hours are good too!

We would definately return to this hotel.

Hotel was everything I hoped it would be. Very clean, very friendly, lovely breakfast, lovely weather, other teenagers to keep my one busy, happy hour (or 2 hour) cocktails, happy hour for ice cream, lovely resort, lots of massages - just perfect. It is sometimes difficult to get 2 hotel rooms with a connecting door (who wants to spend 2 weeks in the same room as a messy teen?) but this hotel managed it and they both had lovely sea views. O'Tooles does the best chips - I love Thai food but teenager had a bad experience with a hot Green Curry and wanted chips - and I must admit they were divine. Go to Mama's road side cafe- it is opposite the Mermaid Hotel - it is a couple of plastic chairs and tables under a collection of umbrellas - the best Pad Thai and Spring rolls ever - food for 3 people plus 2 cokes and 2 beers - £12. You have to sit by the road but it is so authentic and delicious. I am sitting at my desk wishing I was back.

Room Tip: We had a supreme rooms with sea view - lovely

This hotel is in a great location in Karon - 'right in the thick of it!' Phuket was a bit too touristy for us but if you like being in a town, near restaurants, bars and the beach this hotel is in an ideal location. Although close to all the bars and restaurants we did not hear any noise in our hotel room and it was located in the main block at the front. We stayed B&B and the breakfast was really good. We had to wait in a queue every morning to be seated but this was not a problem and we never waited more than 5 mins. The pools are nice but the sun beds are very close together as there is not much room around the pools. The room was okay (a bit tired and towels grey) and clean, although we did have a problem with tiny ants.
The Irish bar opposite the hotel was good and although we did not eat there as we prefer local food, the meals looked great.
Just outside the hotel on the right is 'Eco Divers'. My partner booked a dive and thoroughly enjoyed it, seeing a turtle. Matt gave a real one-to-one service. I went along on the trip, although I don't dive and enjoyed the boat trip - although it was bit a rough on the way out. The lunch was lovely and there were only a few of us on one of the biggest dive boats that headed out that day. Would thoroughly recommend Eco Divers – Matt really looks after you. He also took lots of underwater photos and downloaded them onto our memory stick free of charge.
Most evenings we went to Karon Tropics bar/restaurant and guest house (just round the bend in the road opposite the temple and market) for an early doors aperitif. Rocky runs the place and plays great music - pizzas are really good as well! We were going to eat in the Red Onion on several nights but there was always a long queue - I guess too many trip advisor comments! So did not make it there but all the other restaurants we ate in were great - best local food was in the fish restaurant opposite the Red Onion (can't remember the name!)
We hired a jeep one day as the weather was not great - only for the brave! The rule on roundabouts is who dares who wins! Drove to the north to visit the Gibbon Rehabilitation centre and visited a temple.
Booked 'Simons Cabaret' one evening - it was quite a good show - if not a bit cheesy! The lady boys are absolute gorgeous, they all line up outside after the show for photos but beware they do want tipping if you want a photo.

Just back from a trip to Thailand with my boyfriend. We started off in Phuket and stayed in Centara. We could not have asked for more from a hotel. It is in a perfect location, right in the centre of Karon. The rooms were fab, service perfect, and facilities amazing! There were 3 different pools, 1 with water slide etc for kids which kept the kids away from the other pools (nice and peaceful!) Pool bars were great and towels supplied. The beach is a 3 minute walk away, through the town. Pubs and restaurants and of course shopping are right outside the gate of the hotel! Karon is a lovely small town perfect for couples and families....not great for nightlife. I cant wait to get back there and Ill be staying in Centara for sure!

The resort was excellent. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The greeting with the cocktail a nice touch after the ride in from the airport. The breakfasts are great and set us up for the day - important with two teenage boys and we often didn't eat again until early evening. The location is good, only five minutes to the beach, across the road from O'Tooles for drinks at night and the large sports screen. Many good and cheap places to eat and recommend the laundry service to the left of the resort.
