I would definitely recommend this tour, the guides are responsible and reliable, friendly, funny. It was an extraordinary experience canoeing through the caves. Canoeing as the sun goes down makes it extra special too. The food was excellent. We met John Gray himself and he is a really interesting guy, very passionate about sea canoeing and also the environment, friendly and informative. I was told by friends and a travel agent this is the best tour of all the canoeing trip options and turned out it was a fantastic day and the best tour of my trip.

Wow, What a fantastic day we had with John Grays Sea Canoe. We had heard a lot of great reviews from tripadvisor and when booking was one of the trips we had to have booked and it was well worth it!! the guides are fantastic, speak great english and are a bucket of laughs! very entertaining people. Our guide, mr sasam was halarious, i dont know if u can request a guide but if and when I come back to phuket ill be asking to have mr sasam again, his one liners are classic and his knowledge of the places fauna and animals was brilliant! John Grays believe in looking after the natural habitats and therefore dont feed the monkeys or allow people to climb and destroy the mangroves inside the lagoons which many other companies do allow. The thai tradition on board the ship was amazing and lovely to learn about why and how these beautiful ornaments are made. food was beautiful and overall it was a fantastic experince that i will recommended to everyone i know!

We chose this trip from all the rave reviews on Tripadvisor, but I found it a little disappointing considering the price you pay. It costs 3,950 baht, which is about 4 times the price of similar boat trips to the caves of Phang Nha (available in Patong).
Positives: delicious lunch and dinner provided. Unlimited soft drinks and water. Only 25 guests onboard, so the boat did not feel crowded. Private transfers to and from hotel by comfortable mini bus. Experience guide does all the paddling and points out the interesting animals and environmental points.
Negatives: The 2 of the 3 caves we visited were busy on the day we went. About 40 other canoes were at the same caves at the same time, which makes passing through the narrow caves feel a little claustrophobic and less special because of all the chatter. Hardly a serene experience! It felt like the other boat trips explored the same caves by canoe as the John Gray, so perhaps the only thing they do different is the ceremony in the evening, which in my opinion, is not worth the extra price.

Without doubt this was the best day of our holiday. The company were totally professional and extremely knowledgeable. They cared for their passengers and the environment. The caves were stupendous and the paddle boys were friendly and courteous.

If you do one tour in Phuket then make it this one....a day we will never forget
