We were cycling in the Cotswolds and chose to stop over in Paxford at the Churchill Arms, a lovely pub / hotel in a rural village. The bar & restaurant areas are cosy and tastefully decorated. There is a nice seating area outside if weather permits. We enjoyed our 3 course dinner immensely and the wine list and local draft beers completed an excellent offer. The staff were efficient and charming. Service was great. Upstairs the two bedrooms were beautifully decorated with contemporary soft furnishings, large double bed and plenty of soft pillows. Now to our message to the owner: please consider buying a lightweight duvet for summer use. The duvet was far too heavy for August temperatures. No hair dryers could be found in either room. Apparently there should be, but they had disappeared and despite much effort by the staff could not be found. After a day's cycling and with long hair I needed a hairdryer. I had not packed one because I felt sure the Churchill Arms would have at least one for their guests! So eating my meal with wet hair was not what I had expected. And the bathrooms of both rooms are in need of modernisation : they do not do justice to the rest of the offer- they are old but not so quaint. the old shower head above the bath was less than impressive and it was difficult to control the flow of hot water. So dear Owner, improve the bathrooms and your pub accommodation would be a real gem.

Room Tip: There are only 2 bedrooms, very similar

By a country mile, the best food we had in the Cotswolds. The service was also excellent - super-friendly and accommodating.
The quality and presentation of the food clearly came from a chef who really cares about what he is producing. The lamb and the steak were both superb, as was the truffle Macaroni. Would highly recommend.

We had a beautiful meal in The Churchill Arms on Saturday evening. We found the staff very welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent, with the heritage tomato and avocado starter and chocolate pudding deserving a special mention. When we return to the Cotswolds, we will make sure to visit again.

The chef has turned this place around, he creates yummy food! Staff lovely, just a great place to go spend time with friends, or with family. Outdoors both front and back. Nice in winter with fire, or summer. Book at weekends.

Last Sunday, 26th June, my family and I booked a table at the Churchill to enjoy a gorgeous meal together. It was very busy so we began with a drink at the bar. We ordered our food then went and sat out our table. Quickly the food came through only missing a portion of calamari to share; which we were then informed that they had run out of. The food was delicious and very flavorsome. After the food was taken away we then ordered desserts. I ordered a white chocolate mousse with honeycomb and cherries; I asked without the cherries. After a bit of a mix up with the cherries I ate my mouthwatering, fluffy mousse and crunchy honeycomb. The staff were to warm and friendly, always there to help. I would definitely recommend coming and having a bite to eat.
