Had a drive to Scotlandwell today to view the Wash House and Well.
This really took me back as I spent about the first six years of my life about a mile along the road from here.
The Wash House and Well are central to the history of the village which took its name from the Well.
The Well can be viewed at anytime but to view the Wash House you will need to borrow the key (during daytime hours) from 'The Well Country Inn', Main Street, Scotlandwell, which is directly across the road from the Well and Wash House.
There is no lighting in the Wash House but if you leave the door open it allows enough light to see around inside. The Wash House has not been used since the 1960's.
More detailed information can be found by clicking on the website link.
There is an open green area, play park, benches and picnic benches in the very close vicinity which would make this a good family day out, and perhaps to have a picnic in nice weather.
If you are in the area or nearby I would definitely recommend a visit.
