Description: Philippe Da Silva, a generous and enthusiastic Chef, has turned the Hostellerie des Gorges de Pennafort into one of the most sought-after restaurants in the Var. This lover of fine foods prepares a neoclassical cuisine that is always elaborate and delightful. Among others, his creations include foie gras and parmesan raviolis, a lobster salad with tomato confit and fried scampi with chanterelles and arugula cream... An invitation to a delicious, tasteful moment.

This place is in an unique location. Overlooking a beautiful canyon, which is illuminated during the evening. The hotel is up to the latest standards and fully equipped from bathrobes to slippers to visit the Spa. Nearby are many vinyards, some lovely villages, a very nice golf course and you can start to drive the scenic route through the Gorges de Verdon, etc. The restaurant is not only well designed but flower arrangement create a special ambiance. In summer time the beautiful terrace is open. The food is exquisite, tasteful and creative. The service is excellent, friendly and pleasant at the same time. Be aware that if you order a menu the Chef likes to give you on top of what you order all the other dishes your partner ordered as well. Not everybody likes this, because it is too much. Nevertheless it tells you something about the warm reception you receive.
I have only one "negative" remark. The prices of the beverages are over the top, including the prices for wines and digestives.

Had lunch at this Hotel/Congress Center/SPA and finally restaurant in a very modern version, been there before years ago at that time charming. Anyhow we met the usual french waiter( the guy despice you) the menu which was fixed was told in a very fast way in french and then he left! The sommelier tried to sell us a more expensive wine, but did not succeed, after all the crazy mess, the food and wine arrived with sparkling water.
It was a fantastic menu all over nothing to complain about, I could see all the others took the same menu. So apart from the rudeness of the staff, it could not spoil our very nice lunch.

We were four friends, celebrating several birthdays and anniversaries and we decided to push the boat out by going to the Gorges de Pennafort.
We were sadly disappointed.
We all ordered the 95E menu, along with a good bottle of champagne and another of wine...
Our first inkling of a problem was when our starters arrived - and they were not what we ordered.
When we pointed this out to the waitstaff, they indicated that the chef had decided to provide an extra plate.
Great, we thought! It was not what we ordered, but it was tasty and well presented.
Then we got the second starter - also not ordered.
Then we got the third starter - not ordered and finally the starters we did order.
Crikey! we thought - we're not even going to want our mains.....and it went downhill from there.
We ended up with 4 starters, our main and 5 desserts....along with all the additional amuse bouches, granites and nibbles just to tide us over....a total of 17 courses....and we skipped the cheese tray.
Unfortunately, after the 7th offering, it all tasted the same. We were left with the distinct impression that they knew the quality of food and service was not Michelin Star and so decided to make up for it with serving us the entire menu.
Service? Well, if you enjoy having your waiter lean across you to place flatware, then this is the place for you.
Finally, 3 of the desserts all arrived at the same time.
I just can't recommend this place despite all the glowing reports previously posted.
It was ridiculously expensive and had I known I was getting every course on the menu, I would have ordered the smallest assortment possible. No-one could have eaten all that was presented to us.

This has to be the worst michelin restaurant we have ever been to, the food was undercooked, the waiter seemed very little interested in our feedback, we received several dishes we had not ordered, the food was tasteless and on top of it all the Sommelier could not even make a wine menu for us, and it should have been easy considering the pre-defined menus. In the end, we could eaven finish our menues, we paid and left the restaurant. A person came out to give us a "compensation" in the form of a glass of Champagne ..... Instead they should have offered a redused pay to make sy\ure that we would give teh restarant another chance . Paying almost 1000 euros for such a bad meal and service is not a good experience. This restaurant should loose its Michelinstar.
