Description: In the picture perfect village of Churchill, The Chequers is everything a traditional pub should be with its pretty Cotswold stone exterior and a muddy landrover outside. Except, step inside this pub and you'll find something much more intriguing. A heady mix of the old and new. Expect modern cocktails to sit alongside local ales, and a menu that is packed with seasonally inspired dishes.Enjoy locally brewed beer propped at our bar with friends and family, or rustic dishes in our restaurant using the very best British ingredients in some well-loved classics like our Twice Baked Cheddar Soufflé, Bobby Battered Market Fish and our unmissable steaks cooked to perfection in Josper ovens.

We went with a Groupon voucher. Has a good range on the menu.

The landlord was really accommodating, made the effort to think about our vegan daughter's roll being a brioche containing milk and offering her an alternative. Lovely setting, growing their own grapes for wine on site.

Met up with friends to eat a midweek supper and was very impressed with the restaurant. The layout is spacious with round tables (an added bonus when in a group) and our meal came quickly and was excellent. The chef filleted my fish for me as I am useless at eating whole fish . The house rose was excellent and it was a delightful place to eat in.

A spontaneous visit for Lunch - and we are unlikely to return. On the plus side - Nice (warm) Bread, some Character to the Building / Room, and the (young) Waitress was
pleasant and cheerful. On the other hand, the (bench) seat was far from clean, the decor (inc loos) looks tired, the food was over priced - the Steak a little 'over', and the Bearnaise congealed. I was happy to leave the Waitress a Tip - but instead found out (after paying) there was a 12.5% Service Charge. (Indicated as 'optional' - but £9 went to the 'house'). This is a local PUB not a top City Restaurant. Bad policy in my book.

We stopped at the Chequers for a bite to eat in the middle of a cycle ride from Chastelston.
On a Sunday lunchtime, the place was buzzing and full of atmosphere, which I very much enjoyed. As the weather was sunny, we sat outside with great views of the Church. There is also some good places to sit outside in the back.
Food was served quickly even though they were very busy. I loved the courgettes and feta, and the heritage tomatoes. Husband had the 'best cheese soufflé he's ever had' and some triple cooked chips (his choice - not the healthiest combo but delicious!) followed by scrumptious crumble. And Pimms of course. Well priced.
The customers are very much from the Chipping Norton set. The staff is very welcoming and friendly.
Will definitely try it for dinner.
