This hotel needs a major refurbishment and overhaul. The backyard to the beach was in total darkness. There was no effort at maintaining the landscape. The mattresses were ancient. The water heater pump needs servicing. The pool.... I cannot find any good point to comment except for the very kind and courteous foreigner at the front desk a.k.a concierge a.k.a guard !

Room Tip: Don't arrive at night !

We ended up here via default as rough seas meant that boat crossings to Perhentian Island was cancelled. It is barely a 5 minute drive from the Kuala Besut Jetty. Kudos to the hotel staff who kindly offered us a family room to rest in (knowing that we took the very early flight in from KL) whilst our rooms were being cleaned even though we arrived before 12pm and check-in was suppose to be at 2pm. The lobby has a very 50's vibe (see pictures) and the corridors look a little "tired" but the rooms were a nice surprise. Recently refurbished and very clean and spacious, it's good value. Unfortunately the shower has no cubicles or shower curtains so a lot of the bathroom gets wet after you shower. There are coffee/tea making facilities, many power points, a small fridge and an iron and board, television (only 3 channels) but no hairdryer in the rooms. All rooms have a view of the sea but you have to take a short walk and cross a small road to get to the beach (Pantai Air Tawar). The hotel only serves breakfast (included in the price) but there are restaurants near the beach. Do note that you cannot access the beach (hence the restaurants) at night via the back of the hotel as there are no lights so you have to walk out to the road which is a little longer (about 15 minutes walk). There is also a huge playground and roller blading facilities at the beach. All in all more than adequate as a stopover on the way to the islands.

I arrived at this hotel late night and left early morning, as I was on my way to Perhentian. The room was clean and the bed was nice and clean as well and not worn out.
The bath room was also clean. Televison on the room and a small terrasse.
WIFI was working fine.
Breakfast was served in the room.

There are no lift, only stairs

Room Tip: Stay at the top floor due to it can be a bit noisy with teils on the floor.

Booked it as a stopover before going into Perhentian the next morning. Even when driving in we were wondering if we were entering the hotel grounds or some deserted place. Booked a superior room which was on the 3rd floor but after learning that they don't have a lift or any staff to help carry our bags, we insisted to change room on the ground floor.
The room is basic and clean. Wifi is poor, connection kept dropping. The swimming pool is unused, probably for a few years from the looks of it. Breakfast was very basic - bread, fried noodles, fried rice.
I wouldn't bother staying here if I were to go to Perhentian again - I'd probably try heading straight to the island instead.

Arrived having booked a room with extra bed and breakfast included. Had to change room in order to get all the beds I had paid for - fair enough. Very little or no information when checking in. Tried to hit for breakfast at 9.30, but was told that there was no breakfast.
No Wifi or pool - as promised either.
Room is big, and beds are clean. The bathroom is a bit worn down, but still acceptable.
Location is 20 min walk from town centre.
