I booked this hotel for my wife and me. Lovely beach and the only hotel on the beach suggested a nice private and quiet getaway. I was wrong.

The hotel is on a lovely beach - Playa Potrero, with only 28 rooms.

The hotel was very loud. Every morning, we were woken up by loud trucks right outside our window at 6 am. There was construction every day that detracted from the day. There was no warning of these noises. Finally, the hotel was right next to Hemingway’s Restaurant on the Beach which played until 10-1030 pm every night.

The maids were not very attentive. Two of the three days they cleaned, they did not replace hand towels or wash cloths. There was as much sand on the floor as before we left for the day. Maybe it was because our room - 305 - is at the top of a spiral staircase and it was difficult for them to carry their supplies up and down. It just was subpar for a four night stay.

The grounds are lovely. There are not enough shaded spots on hot days. The staff at the restaurant and the bar were attentive and nice.

On our last full day, a tour bus arrived at 830am and dropped off 25-30 extra guests who stayed on the grounds all day. A beach that was supposed to be private turned into a crush of people. The group swarmed the chairs we were sitting in a pulled themselves right into our space. No respect for COVID and not what I signed up for. I will never go back to this hotel again.

I have been to CR many time. Tamarindo is the most hopping town-but unless you want to drink all day on the beach with 20 year olds, it was not my scene. And the beach is gross and it is further south from all activities you will most likely do with tours etc-and the traffic sucks etc etc.
this spot is PEFECT-directly ON THE BEACh-great for long walks-awesome pool and swim up Barr-breakfast included-cannot beat price-the most standard room is spacious clean-has fridge-safe-closet-AC great-couch-hammock outside space-amazing sunset-spa is adorable-you actually have yoga and an additional restaurant next door (not hotel) that is great fun and so close PLUS the town has a ton of bars, restaurants-shops-a market etc so you don't have to stay limited to what the restaurant offers-this was a great find!

Wonderful and peaceful resort with an excellent and friendly staff! Right on the peach. Real authentic Costa Rican vibe with beautiful views in a quaint and quiet town not too far of a drive from the Liberia airport

My husband and I made a reservation here, it was the first time, we saw the pictures and reviews and thought it was nice, We paid in advance as the hotel policy requested. However when we got there and we were taken to our room the rooms stinked to mold. Both of us have lots of alergies and asma and we can not stand to be in places with mold because it triggers asma crisis. We asked the front desk person Diego if it was other room, he said yes, and the bell boys tooks us to check other 2 rooms, but they had the same moldy strong smell, they said the mold was normal because of the humitity. To make it even worsk the hotel was under renovations and it was not mentioned on their webpage or here, so it was imposible to work o rest during the day because of all the noise.

Obviously we could stay at the hotel under those conditions that risked our health. We explaind Diego that and we need it a refund, inmediatly he call the manager Francisco who agreed to refund the money. It has been more than two months of emails and calls and we can not get our money back! This is so disrespecful!

Don´t risk your health or your money going there.

Room tip: Modly rooms do not risk your health

This place is simply amazing. The staff is incredible, including the front desk crew, as well as the bartenders/servers. We stayed here for three nights and our studio room was extremely clean and cozy. It is exactly as it appears in pictures.

This was our honeymoon and we ended up getting a couples massage, which was very relaxing.

They are extremely accommodating throughout the entire process.

There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance if you choose to eat outside of the resort. There is also plenty of adventures/activities nearby.

When we return to Potrero, we will certainly be staying here again.

Room tip: Parking on site within their gated area.
