Room for 4 is ok just that privacy is limited as door open to lobby. Best to get 2nd or 3rd floor. View is fantastic as weather is quite good when we were there. Breadfast wise so so... place is located halfway inbetween, hence nothing much to see after dark.

Too much hype about Cingjing Farm that brought me to this area. Fortunately I chose Cotswold Villa. The stay makes you feel like you are in Europe . Breakfast is simple but good. The room i stay has a small balcony facing the morning rising sun. Cotswold is a short walk to Cingjing farm but do return back before it gets dark as the roads in fact the whole area is without street lights.

This place is run by a couple. Extremely hospitable, and even apologised for the drivers being late even though they had no control over the timing. Excellent service! The place is convenient and clean!

It was actually December 2014 that we travelled to Taiwan. I am back-dating to all my trips as I was not able to post review as frequent as before.

10 days Taiwan Trip (2x Night stay: Nantou/Cingjing)
Tip: Bring Poncho/Raincoat as Taiwan in December can be quite rainy. It is frequent by light. So, it was bearable. Never underestimate the weather like we did. It can be very cold especially in the mountainous area like Nantou County (Cingjing/Mt Hehuan (ie: Mt Hehuan was -1.6c when we were there) The wind is the killer (but better than Korea))

I got to say, we had the most wonderful experience in Taiwan. The Cotswold Villa is a local minsu, operated by the lovely host, Aunty Daisy and her husband.
Plus:
-Clean and big room
-Very nice view
-Nice, friendly and helpful host
-Electric bed warmer
-Healthy breakfast. The cabbage was really good (mountain grown) and also Aunty Daisy will make freshly baked breads daily for her guest as breakfast. Yummy..
-Location is good. Nearby eateries and 7-11
-About 15mins walk or more, to Qing Qing Cao Yuan
--We love dogs so this is actually a plus for us but for people who are afraid of dogs, you may want to reconsider. Host has about 3 dogs? But they are all very friendly, especially Xiao Xiong (Little Bear)

Minus:
-No smoking. Most hotels/B&B in Taiwan are smoke-free zone. You can smoke outside though.
-If you are not an active traveller (meaning you need to walk a lot) then you might wanna re-consider.
-Very cold
-The minsu is a little old but hey, it is cottage style so, it is meant to be.
-Tub cannot be used but it is too cold for that anyway.
-Not much activity at night since it is mountainous area but it is a good place to relax.

Tip: Bring warmer and thick clothing (especially during winter). Must visit Qing Qing Cao Yuan, have afternoon tea at Old England Manor (if you like old English building) and definitely try the walking-trail from Qing Qing Cao Yuan to Carton King restaurant area (Try the Milk Hotpot, a little blend but milky and unique. You can always add salt to it). Little Swiss Garden ain't really worth the time but if you are having your lunch in Carton King, you can get free entrance ticket to the garden. We pass by the little french village place and found a few interesting shops there. There is a shop that sells very interesting fragrances. There is also a Mos burger and many eateries opposite Carton King. You can catch a shuttle bus or taxi to go back to your accommodation easily. After our stay in Cingjing, Aunty Daisy actually helped us to arrange a car pool (or rather a mini bus) to go to our nest destination, Sun Moon Lake. I M SO GLAD THAT WE ARE VISITING AGAIN THIS DECEMBER!

I chose this place because of the location initially as it was just right at the bus stop of Nantou bus, and it's at an affordable price. When i first stepped it, I'm already liking the place as the whole decor is like an English cottage style. Next, the owner Daisy assisted us and told us where to go, gave us contact for transport and so on. Very friendly, honest, humble and personable lady. Plus her husband is very friendly and helpful too. Going into the room, it was very spacious and the whole feel is like living in a cottage attic, i love it.
The next morning was even more amazing. We went to the breakfast area and got a great view of the mountains! I went during winter time so it was foggy but the view was still amazing. But what impressed me was the wide spread of the breakfast! The whole time in Taiwan (from Kaohsiung to Taichung) i dreaded other hotel's breakfast because it was simple porridge and little ingredients. But this owner made the effort to cook her own breakfast. The porridge is not the usual white rice kind, it was with purple rice and oats, and they have more than 10 kinds of ingredients to go with! Lots of variety. What's best is their homemade pumpkin bread! It was one of the best bread i've ever eaten. I ate till very full that day and can't help praising Daisy on her homemade bread.
This was really the best stay in my entire Taiwan trip of 10 days in Dec 2015. I love it and will definitely stay there again when i visit Cingjing again! :)
