I stayed in the Regent Taipei for 5 nights. The hotel is centrally located and is close to great restaurants, shopping and sightseeing. The MRT is close and Taxis are always available in front of the hotel. The rooms are spacious with a lot of amenities. The bathroom is very big also and has a bathtub as well as a shower. I had breakfast at the hotels buffet restaurant. They offered a huge variety of different foods - european as well as asian. Unfortunately the coffee service was not the fastest but besides that it was a great stay.

Not sure what has happened but our recent stay was such a disappointment. Our room - no reading or writing materials, poor quality amenities (soaps etc), flimsy paper-thin slippers (thank goodness we brought our own), nothing in the mini-fridge except for soda cans and water, no coffee maker (some instant stuff with powder cream) - what a disaster! We opted for the Tai Pan Club to include breakfast and evening cocktails. What a disaster! The room was tiny with tiny little tables and chairs all squeezed together. The food was cold and tasteless. The sparkling wine was flat - no sparkle. For us, never again. Two stars though to reflect the excellent service throughout. Too bad everything else was such a disaster - change of management or ownership?

I enjoyed the stay during 2/19-21 this year with my family in Taiwan as our lunar new year retreat. We stayed at 5th floor occupying two rooms: balcony and deluxe. Hank was very handy at front desk who helped me to set up the rooms and explained the facility functions in details (including facility for baby) during my preview tour couple days before we checked in. On the checked-in day, Jessica, the receptionist, was really good on helping us with luggage, parking, deposit and etc. We're also impressed by Ivy along with her team at 5th who were extremely friendly with her great passion on helping the 5th floor residents. We used B3 fitness center and SPA, it was great!!

The true "World-Class" breakfast happened in the Brasserie next two days. This breakfast experience is absolutely an epic which representing Taiwan's very own special "Arts of Buffet" featuring tons of brilliant food to be consumed in an elegant and greenly dimension.

It's a great stay experience for us. We're blown away by the taste, the people, the surrounding and the location.

Room Tip: Best Buffet, Great Facility in City Center

We had stayed at the hotel and after one night we decided to change to another hotel, the service needs to be improved. We tried one of the restaurants that serve the beef noodle soup and the service was absolutely horrible. We did not have a reservation so when we arrived at 12:00 the hostess informed us without a reservation they are not sure if they can accommodate us even though the restaurant was only 1/3 full. We informed the hostess we will make it a quick lunch and she hesitates a bit but finally agreed to sit us. During the whole one hour we were there the entire restaurant was only 1/3 full so not sure whey they did not want accommodate us at first. The beef noodle soup did not meet our expectations at all for about $20 per bowl, it is full of MSG and we all got a headache after dining there. The staff at the whole hotel seem to be just standing around and not very helpful.

the Regent is a high-end hotel, with two floors of globalized shopping on levels below the lobby level. the public bath is hard to get to and not that nice. the breakfast buffet had a good selection, and the sitting area was ample, if not the most relaxing in the world.

our room (1529, on a high floor, as requested) was nice. there was restoration going on on the floor above us (we had been warned), but we only heard noise one afternoon, and it wasn't that bad.

we'd go back to the Regent (though we might also check out some other hotels, just to see what else is on offer in the very nice city of Taipei).
