The pier where this hotel is situated may be slightly (only slightly) removed from the city core but it's on a plaza where it's lovely to walk around.
Hotel Okura's staff are the perfect blend of welcoming and professional. It's a big place - the biggest hotel we stayed at, as there's the guest rooms and then banquet facilities, and it had some throwback glam to the golden age of hotel stays.
Soon as we walked in the doors, staff came over to taken our bags. Once you check in, they escort you to your room and provided a tour of the amenities. It was a big room, even bigger than many I've stayed at in the States. And the view of the Pier and downtown and the water was stunning!
There's a bar, as well, and it overlooks a gorgeous Japanese garden and it's lovely at night when the garden is lit up. They also put a newspaper (in English) under your door, encased in a plastic sleeve so it doesn't wrinkle - that's how thoughtful they are.
All around, one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had!More
