Convenient

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 8 Nov 2019via mobile
The rooms were small which seems to be a norm in Tokyo. Location was very close to Ueno station which helped us catch our early morning Shinkansen easily.

Has a 24-hour izakaya close by and Ichiran ramen.

I stayed in a small double room & it's really small which I think it's the norm for Tokyo hotels. If you take the Iriya Exit from Ueno Station, the hotel is 3 mins walk on the opposite of the exit to the right hand side. Iriya Exit has escalator which is very good for traveler with luggage.

Close to ueno station. The rooms were clean. Got free upgrade so not sure if the normal room size. Cute koala decoration. Also close to bus station so can go to some temples that can't be reached by train.

I don't know whether or not this hotel one group with sunroute shinjuku but I'll tell you they are totally different. Sunroute stellar Ueno is an old hotel. The good thing about this hotel is the location close to ueno station. This hotel doesn't even provide drinking water in the room. It's a bit pricey considering the facility.

Stayed in Small twin room for 4 nights in February 2018, small lobby, but room is ok spacious in tokyo standard. Close to JR Ueno station, easy for us to take Shinkansen. Lots of restaurants and convenience stores nearby, a very good location.

(I accidentally booked a smoking room for the first night, and non-smoking for the others, I know it was very full at that time, thanks to hotel staff for changing it to non-smoking, really appreciate it.)

Room tip: Hotels in tokyo tends to have small rooms, choose a bigger one if you need more space.

Stayed here for 2 nights after travelling back from other parts of Japan. Location is OK but still a distance from Ueno station and even further from Ueno Keisei Skyliner station if you have luggage. Booked a corner room at "not so expensive rate" but it was a terrible room given to us. The corner room faces the giant Sunroute illuminated signboard hanging on the external wall. It was very bright at night and we had to close the curtains completely. The "extra space" in the corner room was basically a narrow corridor leading from the door to the bedroom area. The bedroom area is very small similar to the other standard room beside us. It was a waste of booking such a room! Breakfast was not good. The food was tasteless. This hotel unlike other Sunroute hotels basically have no services. There are always better places to stay for the price I paid. Avoid.

Room tip: Avoid corner rooms that may not meet your stay.
