Great hotel, save for the distance to the subway station

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 24 Nov 2024
Stayed at the asakusa branch several times

The rooms are small but clean and functional

The hotel provides a simple breakfast of breads/pastries and soups

Coffee and tea are free flow all day

It is within walking distance to the sensoji temple and the shopping district of asakusa

The only drawback is the distance to the tamarawachi subway/metro station …around 15 to 20 mins on foot …and if you have luggage, it is not that convenient

The hotel is pretty good. Placed in a good area with exciting historical sights nearby and pretty close to some metro stations so it’s easy to get around from the hotel. 7/11 is within walking distance. The common area is good if you are interested in meeting some fellow travelers or want to read some Japanese comics. The rooms are a bit small but with a comfortable bed and clean and modern bathroom.

I only spent one night here at the end of my 2 week fall trip around Japan. Despite being absolutely exhausted, I still found it impossible to sleep on the terrible beds at this place. The mattress is so hard it’s like a solid brick, the pillow is an extra small bean-bag like pillow so thin and lumpy you might as well not use it, and the sheets feel like they’re made of tissue paper. Floor space in the room is extremely limited, even by Japanese hotel standards. The anime art style of the hotel, arguably its only draw, isn’t really that eye catching outside of the lobby. For a traveler that needs decent rest and not just a gimmick, don’t pick this hotel.

I have been to this hotel before, so I knew what ti expect.

The rooms are not big, but have a good layout. You can pack your suitcase under the bed, but if you have a lot of luggage, it might be not enough. The bathroom is comfortable. The beds were good. The room has airconditioning, so never too hot.

There is a lounge where you can sit and there are tables where you can eat your own things. You can use a microwave to heat you food. You can also get hot/cold water, tea and coffee. There is also a manga library.

The location is very convenient. Close to public transport, close to severall major tourist attraction, close to bars and restaurants and a Lawson is just 30 steps away. Two bigger supermarkets are a few steps more away if you want a bigger selection. 😁

Rooms are very small. Not your typical room where you have space for your luggages as Japan is maximizing all the spaces in the room. Amenities and facility are good enough (breakfast is bread and coffee only). Rooms are cleaned on the 3rd day but they are changing the towels and take out the trash daily. Airport train is about 20 minutes by walking to and from the hotel so better take taxi (600 yen per way). Train station nearest to the hotel is for other city destination (Ueno, Shibuya, Shinjuku). Don Quijote Asakusa is very near to the hotel.
