Decent well priced hotel in 'tourist central'

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 21 Oct 2019
Family (adult children) occupied 3 rooms for a up to 5 nights. From memory the cost was circa £120 per night per room not including breakfast.

The first thing to note about this hotel is it's location. It's a very short walk to the Senso-Ji temple and there is a lot of tourist stuff in the near vicinity but the good news is you don't have to walk far to be away from it all!

The hotel itself is a standard 'western' hotel with all the 'luxuries' which go with it. Room was comfortable but compact (that's Tokyo for you) but not as compact as the other hotel we stayed in in Tokyo! Beds comfortable, bathroom with all the accessories and decent shower, multi-function toilet seat, etc. Room also had tea and coffee facilities, a fridge and a trouser press.

Wifi was adequate but slowed to a crawl on the Saturday that Tokyo was shut down for Typhoon Hagibis! Not surprising I guess. Staff were all very helpful and, much to our surprise, provided a full room cleaning service on this 'typhoon Saturday'. Kudos people.

We didn't use the hotel's breakfast as there were other options nearby. A couple of pointers to help you enjoy your stay:

1. Asakusa is a station on two separate metro lines. The Asakusa line station is further away and a 10+ minute walk! The Ginza line is closer. There is a lot of manual carrying of luggage up and down stairs if using the Asakusa line;

2. From the hotel entrance off to the left leading up to the temple entrance is a line of food stalls with touts outside we came to know as 'rip-off alley'. It must be the only place in Japan which charges a cover charge, ~JPY 200 pp! We'd sat down and spotted this and then decided to go elsewhere. You don't have to walk far from rip-off alley to get into proper, cheaper local restaurants. In fact, I had my best ramen in Japan just around the corner in IPPUDO Asakusa.

3. The temple and its vicinity get very busy. If you go early evening (or I guess early morning) after the tours have all left it's really quite pleasant.

I have no hesitation in recommending the hotel and would happily stay there again.

We just stayed a night here and are really impressed by the hotel. If there is next chance we would definitely stay longer.
The location of hotel is fabulous- a few minutes walk from Asakusa station and the famous temple. Loads of food and shops downstairs, some with 24/7. You would never get bored.
The staff are very very friendly and nice. Tried their very best to serve us and provide excellent services.
The room is spacious compared to other hotels in Tokyo, fairly priced too. However you can see that the furniture are a bit old already with some smell.
But they use Simmons as the bedding and Mikomoto as the bathing (both are expensive high end brands) which is not common for a three star hotel. Definitely worth it.
Our room was located at the highest floor and was able to view the Skytree tower and the Asakusa temple.

Our first stay in Tokyo was a little disappointing. This place made up for it. In the heart of a shopping zone next to the Sensoji shrine we found a modern, very clean and comfortable and well priced hotel. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom well stocked with excellent shower pressure. We didn’t try breakfast as there was a great coffee shop just across the street. The staff here are lovely. The laundry facilities on the 2nd floor were a bonus if you just wanted to wash some things through. Washer dryer load was 400Yen for 3kg. Fully recommend this hotel with good rail links to every part of Tokyo.

I have been extremely satisfied by this Hotel in the heart of Asakusa next to Sensō-ji temple. Staff with impeccable manners, excellent room cleaning system providing many options to suit your stay. Pace and tranquility day and night. The only black spot breakfast : last order at 9.45 ! But the surrounding area has dozens of alternatives for meals and snacks not too mention restaurant and bars. Supermarkets and department store are also nearby. Affordable rates too.

If you wish to be in a more traditional area of Tokyo then this hotel is in a great position close to the Sensoji temple and within easy walking distance of the Skytree tower. The rooms are a little compact compared to UK rooms but this is Tokyo and reasonably priced. The sister hotel next door may have larger rooms but probably at a price and who wants to stay in the room when there is Tokyo to explore.
The metro is only a 5 minute walk away.
The hotel only offers breakfast, which has a good choice of both western and Japanese cuisine on offer so unless you insist on bacon and eggs you can get a good start to the day, but this is not a problem as there are numerous restaurants close by.
An excellent reasonably priced hotel to explore Tokyo from.
