Review of Finley's Cafe

We visited on a warm day and the cafe was very busy. Situated in the main car park this place seems to do a roaring trade and caters for various choices of food. On one side is the chip shop and on the other side of the cafe is the restaurant. The service was prompt and the food and drink reasonable. Holiday prices to match. The only downside was the seagulls and other birds who have learnt that a vacated table with food residue and trays left by customers are easy pickings. Given the number of staff available, somebody needs to be employed just to pick up after the table has been vacated. The cafe was, however, very much what you would expect.

Loads of people were eating fish and chips but it put me off to see people leaving food on tables and then seagulls and crows swooping down to eat it. Could do with some signs to encourage people to use the bins etc. Tea and cake were fine.. as expected.

A good range of meals with healthy vegetarian options too. They have a 5 star hygiene rating clearly displayed and am glad we are here. The chips were lovely nice and crunchy but not burnt and not greasy.

Had lunch in here well overpriced but your a captive audience it was cafe food sausage and chips and fish cake and chips. Very small portions for the price but tasted lovely. The curry sauce was excellent. Costs probably reflect the rates they pay for such a prestigious setting.

Our first night in Lulworth after a pleasant walk on the Cove. We followed the scent of the fryer uphill to Finlay's. Well busy as it was the Easter weekend. Service was brisk. Reasonable price for two fish n chips (cod). One portion was good, tasty. The other was big on batter, grease and lacked fish. I guess its all down to timing. I'd say request fresh fish if you can. Make sure you check recent reviews. Chips average.
