I had never been to Greece before and so I left it up to my wife to book the hotel and plan our day to day activities. I was very impressed when I looked at the photos of Arkadia although just assumed they would be designer photos. We were so happy when it turned out the rooms were exactly as they seemed in the photos! Extremely spacious rooms, beautiful bathrooms and our room had a two hob cooker, fridge, kettle and cupboards! The rooms also have amazing views of Zakynthos countryside.

The hotel was extremely clean with a good bar, spacious eating area and beautiful outside area. The pool was a nice size and very clean. The hotel has a great menu that is cooked with fresh ingredients and very well priced also.

The real selling point of the hotel though is the Staff. We have never, ever been in a hotel that has staff that are so friendly, so helpful and just so generally nice. We loved all of them and had the most fun sitting in the bar in the evenings with Angelos and Corina just chatting to them as if they were our friends. Nobody in the hotel was unapproachable or unfriendly and it was lovely to meet Angelos' family who also work there. Honestly, I can't sell it enough, these people made our holiday fantastic.

The beach is a 5 minute walk away with free loungers and a restaurant that serves excellent seafood. Angelos can also give you advice as to where there are lovely beaches around the island, especially if it gets a bit windy.

Due to the location of the hotel you really need to hire a car, scooter or quadbike. There is a bus stop but we didn't try to the bus. We were worried we would look like typical Brits abroad on quads but everybody does it and as long as you're not hogging the road or driving round like an idiot you won't have any issues at all. We rented a quad for 2 days and got to drive to 3/4 of the island (in hindsight we should have rented it for 3) on 20 euros of petrol. The quad was approx. 38 euros a day.

Angelos also owns a car/scooter rental company and will arrange to either bring the vehicles to the hotel or take you to the company to pick the vehicles up so it's nice and easy.

We've never thought about returning to the same destination before (too many places to see) but genuinely would consider it with Arkadia hotel. It was the perfect holiday for sight-seeing and adventuring and then relaxing and swimming in the beautiful sees. Angelos, his family and his team are the most wonderful people and we really hope to see them in the future!

I must admit that I was impressed by how clean this hotel is. We had our room cleaned and towels exchanged every day. The rooms are nice, too.
The owner and his family/the staff were very welcoming and friendly, giving recommendations on what to do and where to go.There was a lovely puppy outside, who would go to and greet everyone. You can also have a dinner in the hotel (maybe you need to sign up for it in advance). We paid 15 euros per person and got an all-you-can-eat on a BBQ night and it was veeery delicious.
The location of the hotel is good, if you rent a car on the island, but otherwise it's a bit further away from what you would like to see on the island. Better check the transportation possibilities if you are not planning to have a car there. Anyway, we liked that the hotel is further away from all the fuzz in the bigger towns.
The beach nearby is not good.
My only suggestion would be to get a better coffee machine, please.

We have stayed at this hotel five years in succession. We love the people - Angelos, Mary and their two lovely daughters always make us very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms all have a sea view. There is a small beach and you are strongly advised to hire a car, quad bike or moped. There are fabulous beaches and restaurants not far away but it's best to drive or hire a taxi. However there is a lovely pool and Mary's cooking takes some beating. The island is magical, as are the people. I strongly advise you too book early as this hotel is extremely popular. Ignore the few adverse reviews they are petty and people have not done their homework like we did.

Spent 2 amazing weeks at this beautiful hotel. The owners Angelos and Maria and their 2 daughters were very welcoming and could not do enough for you.
The food which was personally cooked by Maria and was just delicious.
The 2 front of house staff Carina and Gabriella were constantly seeing to you every need and were extremely nice and pleasant.
The whole hotel was extremely clean and well maintained.
A great choice of breakfast, fantastic pool, and also set in peaceful surroundings with amazing views of the mountains and the sea.
Could not rate this hotel enough.
Thankyou very much Angelos Maria and all you staff. You a made our stay very memorable and hopefully see you next year.
All our love Gaz Linda and Max x

Accommodation: spotless throughout, cleaned daily, brand new interior, amazing views of the sea and mountains from the great balconies (especially at sunset), family friendly, great pool and air con that works!

Website pictures are a true reflection.

Staff: exceptionally friendly and really helpful. Angelos and co always had a smile and will bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable. The bar, waiting & cleaning staff were all fantastic and friendly.

Food: we ate an evening meal twice at the hotel (we were room only basis) which was absolutely delicious, reasonably priced and all locally sourced (from Angelos father in laws farm). Would highly recommend the local wine and the Mythos was always chilled to perfection!

Area: peaceful and tranquil but remote with not many amenities within walking distance... would highly recommend a car to explore the island, unless you plan to stay by the pool.

Also a perfect location just down the lane for watching the birth of the sun (sunrise).

Local supermarket well stocked with essentials.

Two excellent local restaurants 1 by the crossroads & one even closer, Vardiola (which has an amazing view especially at sunset).

Another beautiful sunset viewing place nearby is the Vardiola of Kypseli (a small watch tower , which you can see from the hotel, from which islanders used to look out for marauding Turks!). We spent a few evenings there with a couple of beers watching the sky change colour!

All in all we would highly recommend this hotel and would definitely return here
