The Oasis at Death Valley
Reviewed 19 September 2017

We did not expect 5 star accommodation in Death Valley in Summer, and we were not disappointed. Rooms at the Ranch ( or now Oasis) are reasoably large, well worn and adequate. Air conditioning was very noisy but it did the job which was important with temperatures at 118 F. Most disappointing was the genuinely poor quality of food available at the 'only place in town'. The Oasis is a clear case of no competition and consequent low standards. I accept that the location is remote and harsh...and the National Park is an wonderful and amazing place well worth visiting. Its a pity that the mamnagement sets such low standards.

Great hotel - we stopped over here for one night whilst passing through Death Valley, the staff are all so friendly and the rooms are really clean and tidy. The pool is well worth a visit to refresh. The Corkscrew Saloon is great for a light bite to eat and a couple of beers, we ate at the Breakfast buffet worth the money and good food options.

Overall a great find.

Until renovation is completed, simply avoid. We planned a three night stay and since there are no other restaurants in the area hoped to have a nice dinner. On the first night our only choice in a bar were chicken ring and chicken wings. Next door was a buffet restaurant which had a salad bar without ant lettuce.

So for dinner we ate chicken fingers, took the leftovers to our room, bought a packaged salad at the tiny market, and made our own salad with cut up chicken fingers for lunch.

We fled a day early!

Death Valley is an amazing place.
If you just want somewhere to just sleep and leave in the morning this will be just ok.
Seats in restaurant had large tears fixed with tape and were stained. Restaurant food is basic.
+ comfortable bed.
- In the room electric switches appear really old, Big stain on bedroom floor, air con works but is noisy,

Stayed there one night.
You are basically in the middle of nowhere in the Death Valley with a nice swimming pool and green grass. It's a bit too much but it's an oasis and it's america.

Facilities are good, one Resto/buffet and one bar. Enough for a night.
You can easily spend 2 days and check the america biggest national park and then rest a little bit after that.
AC is noisy once again but it's common in the US.

I do recommend this hotel.
