Owner description: Enjoy a warm welcome and experience a true Alaskan lifestyle at Husky Homestead—home of Iditarod Champion, Jeff King. Husky Homestead is widely heralded as an authentic look into rural lifestyles based on 40 years of Alaskan adventures: from freight hauling on Denali to crossing the finish line in Nome, Alaska with a champion Iditarod team. Cuddle puppies upon arrival and share an intimate view of the Alaskan Husky as the team explodes from the dog yard and runs on our treadmill before hitting the trail for a training run. Get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating a championship team and carving a life in Alaska's Interior. Hear compelling stories from the trail and see actual racing sleds, arctic survival gear and equipment used to traverse 1100 miles of Alaska's most rugged terrain. Our 2017 tour season begins May 10th and ends on September 21st. Special Note(s): Dress in warm layers. Wear comfortable walking shoes. Bring a jacket, gloves and a hat. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by parent or guardian. Outside portion of this tour is approximately 45 minutes, inside portion is approximately 45 minutes. We look forward to meeting you!

Wow this place is cool and Jeff is a lot of fun. His crew give a great tour and playing with the puppies is something we did not want to leave. Very educational and well worth the trip. Highly recommend it for families.

How can you not love it? The staff are excited, educated, friendly, helpful - they obviously love what they do. You get to see how the dogs are trained and how they live. The dogs love what they do too! I would love to return again and get to hold another puppy. Hi Lopo!

Hi Jeana! Thank you so much for visiting us and we are thrilled that you were able to see that our dogs do indeed love what they do - and so do we! Come back anytime!
Best,
Carrie
PS - Lobo is doing great! He's now harness broken and running routinely with his litter mates.

You are picked up by bus and brought back to your hotel or lodge. Once at the Homestead you are encouraged to handle the pups. It's interesting, the dogs are amazing and Jeff King is a great speaker.

I loved this experience from beginning to end. What's not to love about holding an Alaskan husky puppy? I wish that part could have gone on longer! Learning about the training of the dogs and naming of the dogs was great! Meeting Jeff King and hearing him explain how the Itidarod works was fascinating and educational. Of course I had to buy the picture of me with the puppy--not cheap, but necessary!

Its a must do, to arrive and be greeted with puppies, have your pictures taken, to be seated in an outside covered area and listen to the amazing way they name their dogs how they train them and then watch how they do it , then to an inside presentation by Jeff King who speaks from the heart about his life and his dogs , what a man!
A must trip whilst in Denali
