Owner description: Bike down Haleakala, Maui's largest Volcano. Enjoy a tour of Haleakala National Park and a trip up to the summit at 10,000feet above sea level. Admire views of the Crater, and bicoastal views of Maui. Experience a 23 mile bike ride downhill at your own pace. No guided convoy to rush you down, no big group to hold you back. You are free to come down at your own comfortable rate.

Want to say kudos to the staff at HBC, the staff were great (they stayed open for us who were running late to allow us to pick up our bikes). The bike ride itself is awesome, HBC supplies you with everything you need and I mean everything so just bring shoes to bike in and the rest they can equipt you with. You will not be disappointed with HBC so enjoy the ride and don't forget to bring a camera, the pictures are un-believeable....have not downloaded my pics yet but will save pics for your own memories.....enjoy the ride....mahalo from the boys from Toronto

Our tour guide Corey was a piece of work !!! Very entertaining and informative. Great customer service and directions. When they say dress warm, they mean it. We had 40mph winds and were glad we dressed in layers. This company gives you the bike and you are on your own downhill. We were able to stop and absorb the beauty at our leisure, instead of with a company that follows you down the hill and rarely stop. We also stopped at the Kulu Lodge for breakfast, excellent. The views at the top are breath taking and we enjoyed the chant from Corey. Would highly recommend this bike company to anyone considering this adventure. Thanks Corey for a great trip and wonderful memories !!!!!!

We enjoyed a thoroughly professional tour. Friendly people, easy check-in, good equipment, and one of the best tour guides (Kimo) we have had in the last several years. Couple all that with one of the most interesting places in the Islands and you have an excellent excursion.

We took the "Summit Deluxe" tour, we were not really interested in getting up extra early and freezing to see a sunrise. I would recommend considering the early tour for those starting their vacation on Maui as a first day excursion as the time differential will probably have most people up very early anyway. We found it to be mid-fifties at the summit while it was mid-seventies at the bike shop. The crater was impressive, the views were great (we had no cloud cover) and we could see the Big Island from the top.

The trip down is done "on your own" and it is up to you as to how long it will take, where you might wish to stop, etc. It took us 2 hours to coast the 23 miles. We had to peddle about 5 times for a total of 5 minutes ish. They offer hotel pick-up but we drove on our own so as to have the chance to drive around the up country area after the tour was completed. You can not go wrong with Haleakala Bike Co.

It's actually been a few years ago that we went, but the experience was one of a lifetime! We did the sunrise tour; it was just beautiful. The bike trip down the side of the crater had breathtaking views. The tour company tells you to dress in layers........I strongly advise you do so! We took a backpack. They recommend a lil restaurant you can stop at on your way down for breakfast, don't remember the name but it was delicious! Banana pancakes with coconut syrup......doesn't get more tropical than that! The driver was very friendly and knowledgable.

My boyfriend and I had a great on this tour. Tim was our guide and he was very entertaining. Bring lots of extra layers it can be freezing at the top while waiting for the sunrise. Maybe ask if you can bring a blanket and leave it on the bus for pick up when you return. The bikes are single speed so going up the small hills was comical as we pedaled like mad to barely move. It is pricey, the crater a sunrise is a must but I would pass on the bike ride if I had to do it again.
