Myself and my boyfrind had walked the loop along the river from Tintern to Brockweir and back. It was a lovely walk, however the heavens opened as we started heading back to the Tintern.
We decided that we fancied a cuppa so we popped into the Abby Mill for something to eat and drink. The chalkboards outside caught our eye and we fancied nearly everything on them! However we decided to go for cream tea. The portion sizes are HUGE! We only needed 1 portion between 2, however we hadn't eaten here before so were not aware of the sizes. We had 2 giant scones each, a large bowl of cream and a large bowl of jam. Our tea also came with extra hot water so we could top ourselves up. It was not the best cream tea either of us had had for the price, and wished we had gone for soemthing else. However it was pleasent enough after a long wet walk!
We were the only people in the Mill at the time (probably had something to do with the weather), so there was not much of an atmosphere. But the location is lovely, and on a sunny or dry day I am sure it is a lot busier. Its quite nice to be sat in there when its raining as it is like a conservatory and you can hear the rain tapping on the roof.
The restaurant doesn't actually accept cards, however as we only had card to pay on they walked us over to the shop and we paid via card in there.
If I am dog walking in the area again I would like to stop here and try something else off the menu.

Beautiful setting, tables inside & out, had one of their speciality 'pies' - excellent puff pastry - though though more meat would've made it better. The accompanying varied salad and jacket potatoes enhanced the meal.
Thought a bit expensive - though it may have been the norm in the area!

The Abbey mill is in such a lovely location it really is a nice place to sit and relax. The food however is terrible, me and my partner were very disappointed . We ordered a steak & onion baguette & a pork burger. The steak was tough, fatty and tastless and they didn't even make an effort to cut it and put it in the baguette. The pork burger was also tastless. Our dogs very much enjoyed our meals they must of thought Xmas had come early!!! Don't eat here!!!

The Mill is just amazing and such a refreshingly friendly place to visit. Popped in to The Spirit Of The Green Man and spent a great deal of time there too. Lots of people relaxing and looking around. Very relaxing place, and you can't help but have the wind taken out of your sales.....

visited Tintern today as my partner and I wanted to see the abbey. after visiting we decided to have lunch at the anchor where we turned away as we had a dog with us. very disappointing.

we then decided to go to Abbey Mill. What a lovely place!

a little difficulty parking as they were so busy! beautiful Location and very welcoming as dogs are welcomed. we decided to order a cider pie and a lasagne, which were fantastic!
the salad that came with the meals was so different. Rice pasta and fruit included. this meal was obviously prepared fresh and not out of a packet! how individual.

100% value for money and the knickerbockerglory on top was very satisfying.

they also have gift and craft shops which are packed with lovely bits.

so impressed withe Abbey Mill we have decided to book our wedding here next spring!

I believe they have a Folk Festival coming up mid July which we will be returning for and will be bringing 9 others to join us, if not not sooner.

thumbs up and wil be back soon!!!!!!!
