Opening to the public earlier this year, The Nest by Danapati is a great place to stay. First impressions were very good - the foyer is modern and classy, and we were greeted by a friendly concierge and an ice cold guava juice! Our room, a deluxe suite, was clean, stylishly designed and very comfortable. We had a balcony for amazing sunset views over the mangrove forest, perfect air con so zero mosquito bites, and a very comfortable mattress and duvet for a super sleep each night. There was a small lounge area you could separate from the bedroom via sliding doors, which contained a sofa bed, chair and table, mini bar and cabinet, along with an utterly huge TV. The bedroom also had a big TV, a desk and chair, some hanging space (we asked for extra hangers and got them straight away) and bedside tables with controls for various lighting states. The bathroom was spacious with a rainforest shower, two sinks, a freestanding bath and a loo. There is also a separate loo on the other side of the lounge. Everything felt very clean indeed, and attention to detail (including fabulous towel animals!) was spot on. Also, if you are in your room of an evening you will get a knock on the door asking if you want fresh towels or water - a nice touch. Occasionally we heard the occupants upstairs or next door, but the sound proofing was pretty good so it was never a problem.

Breakfast (6-10am) is plentiful and tasty, with staff incredibly welcoming and friendly. You can choose from a continental buffet of croissants, fruits, cereals, cakes, jellies and breads, or a hot breakfast featuring anything from mie goreng, cap cay and chicken porridge, to baked beans, bacon and garlic potatoes. There is also an ‘egg station’ where you can order eggs any style and enjoy watching your omelette (veg, cheese or ham or all three) being cooked in front of you. Next to the egg station is the man who makes waffles which you can have with any topping including maple syrup, chocolate, strawberry sauce or custard. Drinks on various days included guava juice, apple juice, orange juice, mineral water, coffee and tea. Our only gripe was the large tourist group we tried to avoid each morning, who were noisy and a bit inconsiderate.

The top floor is delightful, with uninterrupted views to the sea in one direction, and beyond the mangrove trees in the other. When we stayed, a two for one cocktail offer between 5-7 will see you through a spectacular sunset. It was rarely overly busy on the top floor, but we tended to get up there early as there are only 8 sun loungers by the infinity pool. The pool is nice, with music (can be a tad loud), free towels, glasses of iced water and a bar serving alcohol, juices and coffee which you can sit at in the water. Service could be slow, but we were in no rush! Careful if you spend time on the loungers as there is no shade and the sun gets outrageously hot. We missed having umbrellas up there.

Lunch up on the roof is very nice - we had tasty food, cold beers and good coffees for a reasonable price considering the superb view and nice birdsong. Make sure you check out the terrace at the front of the hotel, behind the lifts. I think it is used for private events but from there you overlook tennis courts at Club Med and beyond to the sparkling sea and islands in the distance.

Sadly the gym was out of action. I think they were redoing the floor in there. It was originally only meant to be closed for a couple of days, but that ended up being the entire 13 nights, which was a shame as we wanted to try and keep fit whilst we stayed!

The situation of the hotel is great - you have the beach a 5-10 minute walk away, past some markets and bars. When you reach the beach - to your right are upmarket resorts for a long stretch and to your left are water sports. If you keep going to the right you will reach Bali Collection, a shopping centre with markets, a department store and lots of restaurants. Also near the hotel are several mini marts, but a slightly bigger super market is Pepito Express, which stocks everything from sunscreen to snacks to good coffee - an espresso that will knock your socks off is around 23,000. Next door to Pepito's is a nice restaurant called Warung Skawan. It has good value, local food - they’ll even do a vegetarian version of some of the dishes if you ask!

Overall The Nest at Nusa Dua is a gem. Staff are friendly, it is spotlessly clean, and the room was cool, stylish and comfortable. It is right next to luxury resorts in one direction, local shops and warungs in the other. The beach is a short walk, and if you take a cab you are only 20-30 minutes away from the airport, Seminyak beach and Uluwatu.

The structure is quite nice and room are comfortable! Actually due to a delay in our check-in we were upgraded in the suite for all the duration of our stay. This was nice.

BUT...for the price we paid (60€ per night each)

1. Some of the staff cannot speak English
2. The pool has only 8 armchairs that make it difficult to actually use it
3. The gym was out of order
4. The bed sheets in the suite were dirty
5. General cleaness was not great
6. Service can be much improved

Moreover when we asked for two days in row about prices to rent motorbyckes they went from 75k the first day to 100k the day after...if I have to bargain also in a standard hotel.....it is too much!

4 star to the physical structure
1 star to everything else!

If they increase the price of one penny they become a DO NOT GO HERE!

Guys you have to improve a lot!

Sorry

It's a really nice modern hotel with very comfortable beds!

I cannot stress how comfy the king-size bed is; It's so comfortable, that the moment you lie down in it, you wouldn't want to get out anymore! Aside from having comfortable beds, the room was made really well; Spacious, and has beautiful lighting, really nice ambience. It makes you wanna just stay in the room, and not go out anymore. I ought to get ideas here for my future house!

The aircon also worked, and the room also had a safe, mini-refrigerator, and a water heater. The bathroom was also beautiful, spacious and had a bidet, and working hot-water. The wifi in my room, 3010, worked very well and was fast.

Another important thing, the room was also very clean; The house-keeping staff always cleaned the room everyday and you can see they always did their best to make it as spotless, and immaculately clean as possible. The room would always smell fresh, and new again every-time they would finish cleaning it.

At the time of visit, they also gave me 2 free water bottles everyday.

The breakfast buffet at the restaurant was also very good! It was tasty for a buffet! Their menu for their breakfast buffet would change day to day, but if I remember, I was able to get;

For the Asian dishes:
Various types of rice (Seafood, and a browned colored rice at some other days, but a seperate steamed rice was available everyday) with various Indonesian spices as an optional thing for you to add, various types of chicken (I recall chicken teriyaki, and the other Indonesian chicken styled), Various types of fish (Some days would be fish with white sauce, and sweet and sour fish), and various types of noodles.

For the Western dishes:
Baked potatoes, roasted potatoes, french fries, Hashbrowns (Quite rare- I recall getting it once or twice out of the 8 days), Lasagna (Quite rare; I recall getting it only once out of the 8 days I stayed in), Beef sausages, and chicken sausages on some days.

And cereals: Koko krunches, cornflakes, that honey star cereal (I forgot the name) were present everyday.

Various types of breads were also present including french baguette, white toast, pandan toast, and I forgot the other one. (It was like a wheat bread)

For the drinks:
Milk, water and orange juice were present everyday. Some days I got: Guava juice or Apple Juice.

For the desserts:
There were these various types of creme brulee like desserts that would change colors day to day. (Some days would be blue, some red). Some days (It's random) they would have donuts, cupcakes, mini-tarts, puffballs, or cake-bread.

The buffet also had vegetables, a salad bar, fruits (Papayas and watermelons), unlimited tea/coffee and an egg station where you can get various types of eggs including hard-boiled eggs.

The facilities: I tried the:

Fitness center/gym
The gym was pretty nice! It had 1 cycling machine, 2 treadmills, 1 eclipse machine, dumbells, medicine balls, a bench press.

Pool:
The rooftop pool was beautiful, and nice! It really is an infinity pool with a bar beside it, and amazing views! You can see the sunset while swimming, and the stars at night! The pool was also surprisingly pretty big; It felt like around 15 meters of swimming space in that pool.

Underground parking lot:
The hotel had an underground parking lot where you could safely park your vehicles! I was able to park the car I rented in the parking lot and nothing happened to it for the entire duration of my stay.

Rooftop Restaurant:
Has good food, but not surprisingly, is pretty expensive with food ranging from IDR 50,000/$3.8 USD (50,000/$3.8USD -60,000/$4.6USD gets you rice, burgers are around 80,000/$6.15USD) - 150,000/$11.5USD + 21% service charge, which is automatically added to your total bill. Then again, this is the typical, normal price for pretty much all the restaurants in this area, and Nusa Dua. So compared to the restaurants at the Bali Collection Mall, the Nest's prices for their food is on par/pretty much the same.

Spa:
I can't comment on the spa as I didn't use the spa.

WIFI:
The wifi was very fast and even reached my room. (Room 3010)

Location:
For cheap eats, there's a Pepito Express/Baker's corner 7-10 minutes walk from the hotel. You'll pass a mini K-mart and eventually, a big Pepito Express/Baker's corner supermarket. You can find microwavable cheeseburgers here for IDR 17000 ($1.3 USD), microwavable chicken burritos for IDR 25,000 ($1.9USD), lemon meringue/chocolate/strawberry tarts for IDR 25,000-33,000 ($1.9 - $2.5USD), roasted chicken legs/wings for around IDR 16,000-20,000 per pack. ($1.3 USD - $1.5 USD), and coffee americano (IDR25,000 $1.9 USD), and fresh juices here. (IDR 25,000-30,000 $1.9 USD - $2.3 USD)

For the beach access, the hotel's not beachfront, but it's still near the beach; It's just around 350 meters from the hotel to the beach, around 5-8 minutes walk.

To the Bali Collection Mall, it's around 1.6 kms from the hotel, or a 18-30 minute walk. Walking from the hotel to the mall makes for a very nice afternoon pastime as the grounds are very nice, beautifully landscaped manicured gardens.

Service:
First class service. The staff of the Nest Hotel are very polite, pleasant, trained very well, and go out of their way to help you out.

Cons:
I really slept well, ate a lot for the breakfast buffet, and enjoyed my stay. So I can't really think of a con for me. But maybe for some people, the fact that it's not beachfront might turn them off but for me, well I don't mind walking 5-8 minutes to the beach. As for the prices of the food, well, this is Nusa Dua we're talking about, and if you want to eat international food, or in the restaurants here with nice ambience, that's really more less the price of almost everywhere here. So I can understand that, you'll just have to budget it somehow, or bring more money if you wanna eat in these restaurants here.

Overall, awesome place, will highly recommend, and I just hope they continue to keep up the good work, and keep it maintained!

Room Tip: The wifi was able to reach room 3010 (King sized bedroom) and was very fast

Pros:
- Clean and spacious room
- Good soundproofing
- New and stylish hotel
- Good breakfast buffet
- Good Wifi
- Strategic location

Cons:
- No garden
- Noisy lobby (Hotel's lobby located just a few steps from a busy road)
- Feels unsafe (No security check at hotel lobby)
