We stood at the Red Lion for 3 nights and really enjoyed being there. Everybody was kind, helpful and very nice in any way. Rooms are small but very nicely decorated. We stayed in Javelin, which was up front. It was a bit noisy as it was right above the Pub entrance and people were also seated outside . But we did not mind. We had dinner twice during the time and food was excellent. Thank you for your hospitality.

So we live very near the sister pub The Exchequer and love the food and atmosphere there so thought we’d try a lunch here.
The pub is lovely and has a relaxing rustic feel to it.
We chose a seat in the restaurant rather than bar side bed was told a waiter would be through to take our order. Well 20 mins passed and I went to the bar and asked if I could order. The waitress was told engrossed in her phone with the barman, tables around us had people’s dirty plates sitting there and empty glasses.
The food was okay, burgers were soggy as too much relish had soaked through the brioche bun so impossible to pick up. Looked a bit empty on the plate as literally it was a burger and a bowl of chips for £14.50.
Not overly impressed with the food and the staff even less.
Had to return to the bar to settle up to as no show of staff and yes waitress back behind bar on her phone again. Very poor service from the staff considering they only serve food for a few hours, they should be on the ball.

Hi chelle999,

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review, we appreciate all feedback and use this in order to reflect on how we run.

I am sorry to read that your experience with us was not a better one and that there were issues with the food and service. This is certainly not of our usual standards as we aim to deliver great food, along with efficient and engaging service to our customers - it is clear that we fell short on this occasion and I apologise that this had a negative impact on your visit. Please know I have shared your feedback with our team in order to review and improve on this.

As a regular of our sister pub, I do hope you will return so we can prove we can deliver the same great food and service that can be found at The Exchequer. Please do contact me directly at emily.luong@redmistleisure.co.uk if wish to discuss in further detail.

Kind regards,

Emily
