My husband and I recently stayed here while attending a destination wedding in Aruba. Overall the Eagle Aruba hotel offered good value, and a perfect location for our needs. The wedding party was staying at La Cabana, which is located in the adjacent property. It was a quick walk across the parking lot to get to La Cabana, and less than a 5 minute walk from Eagle Aruba to Eagle Beach (located just across the street from La Cabana). It was very easy walking to the beach -- the street you cross has crosswalks, and the area drivers are great about stopping to let pedestrians cross.
Eagle Aruba is not beachfront, which is probably why their rates are quite reasonable for the area. You can get a "sliver view" of the ocean from your hotel room, but mainly the views are of the resort's pools.
It's an older property, and it shows, though generally maintained quite well. We stayed in a 1-bedroom condo on the top floor. Elevator service was always prompt. Our unit was spacious and comfortable, with a nice kitchenette, dining table with seating for 4, a seating area with a sofa and chair and an outdoor balcony with 2 chairs and a table (along with the separate bedroom and bathroom). The unit was clean when we arrived, but housekeeping was sporadic during our stay (they didn't clean at all some days).
Eagle Aruba has 3 very nice pools (not heated from what we could tell). The middle pool is considered the "adult only" pool and was the center of occasional "entertainment" (party games, DJ, etc.). Mostly it was a place for folks to be in the water while enjoying their beverages... Family pools were located on either side of the adult pool -- one featuers a waterfall, the other a water slide (and there was a splash area for younger kids there too).
The outdoor area is nicely landscaped, I rather preferred its laid back family vibe to the "party vibe" over at La Cabana (which was definitely busier and more packed with people than Eagle Aruba was during our stay).
Other amenities at Eagle Aruba include an outdoor restaurant and bar called "Uncle Tony's Pizza". Ironically, the pizza there is just OK but the burgers they serve are GREAT. Highly recommend! There's also an indoor sports bar/restaurant which was good as well. In addition, near the entrance to the resort there's a small gift shop/convenience store and a Dunkin Donuts.
Despite being called "Eagle Aruba Resort & Casino", the casino is actually located in La Cabana's lobby -- to get there just walk across the parking lot.
This was our first visit to Aruba, and as expected the weather was sunny, warm, and windy. A pleasant surprise was how reasonable it was to dine at area restaurants -- we frequently visit islands in the Caribbean and are accustomed to high prices for eating out, but it was much more economical than expected here. Also, taxi fares to get from Eagle Beach to Palm Beach weren't bad at all ($8 for 2 people), and there's a bus that runs about every 20 minutes to the various tourist area for a fare of only about $3.
