This was a highlight of our trip . I loved the little boat ride over from coding ton and loved the beautiful beach at the outback. I felt like I had died and gone to heaven.

Spent two days/nights anchored off Low Bay and Barbuda Outback... had many drinks and swims on the deserted beach... occasional chopper comes and goes dropping off and picking up day trippers. Jala and his crew provided drinks, great lobster lunch and transport across the lagoon for some provisions... old world Caribbean.

Jala Gore, the owner, deserves a big shout out – he transforms what could be a short excursion to a beautiful beach into a great lounging beach day with a delicious lunch. Be sure to make a reservation in advance by calling Jala at (268) 721-3280. We arranged to go at 9 am and he provided a boat shuttle from the Codrington dock, across the lagoon. Once at Low Bay, he set up lounge chairs and an umbrella on the beach. Add to that a bucket of ice cold beer and we were enjoying a grand beach day. We took a break from the beach to enjoy grilled lobster and Mahi Mahi for lunch, while overlooking the beautiful water. The Outback is a great place to meet yachties, who anchor offshore, for lively conversation. A great day for a very reasonable price.

Imagine your own private beach with a chef included. This is what you get at Outback with Jalah, he's a great character and an even better cook. His fish and chicken dishes were outstanding. He also took us around the frigate bird sanctuary which was a fascinating trip. We went for the day from Antigua so get in touch with him to sort out pickup from the airport.

Barbuda is an ecological wonderland, 160 sq. km. of stunning natural beauty. There is a large and amazing lagoon, home to an incredibly large frigate bird population which is fascinating to observe during the mating season when the mangroves are densely populated with nesting and swooping males and females. On Barbuda itself, a large flat plain covered with all kinds of fauna, there are magnificent caves, the most impressive being the Darby sinkhole, 300 feet wide and 70 feet deep. There are palms, ferns and liana in the vicinity of the sinkhole. Indian Cave contains petroglyphs drawn by the Arawak and Siboney indians, the original inhabitants.

For me the most enjoyable thing to do when on Barbuda is to have lunch at Jala's Outback restaurant on the incredibly long and sweeping beach on Low Bay (the sand there looks pink). In order to make this happen, you call Jala Gore at 268-721-3280. He will come to the wharf right in Codrington to pick you up in his fast moving water taxi. Once at his rustic restaurant he will serve you with sumptuous sea food dishes. On my last visit I had the largest lobster I ever had in my life. Jala is an interesting character and he chats a bit, but leaves you to your own devices while you walk on the beach or relax on one of the chaise lounges. When you have enjoyed the meal and the beach he will whisk you back to Codrington. Get him to show you the freshwater springs bubbling up from the lagoon floor near the mangroves on the way back.

There are not enough superlatives to describe this largely undiscovered secret of the Eastern Caribbean.
