We weren't able to stay at Southernsurf for our entire visit this past February and that was our biggest regret. It still comes out the cream of the crop for moderately priced, basic but well maintained, spotless accommodation in a prime south coast location. The staff is wonderful.
The coast road is noisy and you have to climb some stairs as a rule and you need to be prepared for that but it means a lot to be in an apartment suite that has everything you need, an air conditioner that doesn't bear down on you as you sleep and a lovely escape to a quiet pool area, across from a beautiful beach and across the road from Champers, a brilliant restaurant.
The island is going through some difficulties right now especially on the south coast. We hope if we return it will have righted some of the infrastructure issues the government has created for the owners of hotels who are trying to keep the major industry of the island going. Shame on the Barbados government for not supporting its people the way they should.
Thanks again for making our last 5 days on the island memorable!More
