“Lovely plaza, nice art galleries”

Ranked #5 of 23 things to do in Camaguey

A must-see in Camaguey. Within walking distance of many hotels or a cheap pedicab trip. There is an interesting tourist market, but the high point is the many art studios/galleries on and just off the plaza, including those of painter Joel Jover, sculptor Magdiel, the Gato Azul gallery of Ileana Sanchez, and others. Good art, friendly interaction, and no high pressure.

The church here was one of the few churches that was actually open when I was walking around mid-day which was a nice change of pace. It is a simple church though a little dark for my tastes. Outside of the church is a cobblestoned plaza with cafes, a street market, and many art galleries.

The plaza , located on the south part of Camaguey is the most beautifull , you need to see it. It's very quite and nice architecture ..

I was in this plaza on a Thursday morning and found a great local tourist market. I don't know what times/days it runs, but its worth it to go there. A number of vendors sell amazing crafts that are handmade. They also have Cuba magnets and license plates. The plaza itself is colorful and quiet.

A little off the beaten path but quaint. We went into several art galleries and found the art creative and innovative and the artists very inviting. Just a short walk from Plaza Agramonte.
