We spent 3 days here on all inclusive, that's 3 each breakfasts, lunches and dinners.
The hotel does not cater for vegetarians. We struggled to find food that we could eat. We ended up eating pasta mostly, there was an option of cheese sauce or tomato sauce, got so boring. They used to serve rice with vegetables but add ham to it. Plain white rice, but if you wanted beans with that, it had pork in it. Most salads had meat added to them. Yet the choice for non-vegetarians was excellent. So I don't understand why they had to add meat to the salads as there was a lot of meat served anyway.
The snacks served in between meals had absolutely nothing for vegetarians, they served hamburgers, hot dogs, canapés, all non-vegetarian. Surely a 4 star hotel is aware that there could be people staying in their hotel that don't eat meat. We did bring this to their attention via the complaints officer, but apart from some cheesy canapés, there was no change whatsoever with the food. The hotel, I feel, made no attempt to speak with us or try and help us by offering suitable food, which would have gone a long way in making our stay special. There were 3 of us, so how difficult would it have been for the chef to prepare something for us. Most disappointing. And to think we paid the same money as the other guests.

This was our first trip to Cuba. We are in our early 50s and love life. My sister in law is from a town by Varadero and my husband and I wanted to see this wonderful place. We also got to go to her niece’s quinceanera, awesome experience. We did our research, so we knew not to expect perfection. I don’t know how many ways I can say it was wonderful and beautiful. Yes, there were seats missing on some toilets, not in hotel room, but my sister in law grew up, her whole life, without one. This is not an Americanized country. This is not Hawaii, but it is a beautiful country with beautiful people. I do suggest that you be sure to check voltage at hotels before travel. I also suggest taking some late night snacks (cheezies travel well) and minor medical supplies, like polysporin, tweezers and such. Know- a small tip goes a long way, just like anywhere in the world. We noticed that a lot of people didn’t tip. All inclusive doesn’t mean you can’t be nice. I guess we are very Canadian lol. Many Europeans at this resort. I do truly wonder if they don’t tip in Germany and treat servers second class. Maybe that normal there. The staff in the Cohiba bar and the buffet were excellent and super nice, always a smile. As was our maid and most front desk and others. Security could stand to be more pleasant. It’s a great convenience to have ‘banking’, internet (small fee), and a convenience store on site. Our room was clean and modern. Our ac worked great. Always hot water too. Probably perks of traveling off season, less strain on the building. There are obviously upkeep issues as there is not a Home Depot around the corner. Don’t let a missing hall tile or an out light bulb wreck your stay. The buffet is quite good. You be less bored if you don’t ‘take a little of everything’ every day. The food is fairly plain but flavourful in a fresh way. If you like peanut butter or ketchup take it with you. We went to a great restaurant Club Waco off resort. Check it out! Yummy. We also went to an awesome club in Varadero, Calle 62. Going off resort you’ll notice a lot of restrooms have attendants to give toilet paper for a small tip. It’s not a horrible thing, just give them a peso and be happy. The beach was so wonderful, I can’t even begin to express how great it was. The nightly show was good/decent. I didn’t really know what to expect. The pool was very nice and frequently activities were going on. We think it’s a good idea to take a day for Havana too. Quite different from Varadero. If you like classical cars you are in for a treat taxis are classic cars and horse drawn buggies. It was a wonderful experience. Enjoy!

This AIC-Hotel is not the best of hotels we had visit, but not the wurst either. The rooms were very fine whith TV with many channels a fine big bathroom and separate wc. The food was okey, but they do´nt have youghurt some days at breakfast and minimal of vegtabels. We had two Veganpeople in our family and they cuold take very little to eat . Lots of fruit, but the kitchen put meat or bacon in every mixedsallad, beans. The big diningroom has the usual high noice, and the waiters was nice but notthat serviceminded we are us to now. Positive feedback for the servicedesk, beach and the activitys with free sailboats, canoes and pedalo. The pool was big and you can play tabletennis, biljard there. The noice at after bech was terible high.

Hotel itself is nice as it has been recently renovated.

We arrived in the afternoon around 5:00 pm, and reception staff was very welcoming and attentive. The check-in process was fast and efficient, we even received an updated to a ocean view room with spectacular views of the beautiful Varadero beach.

Service and food: you will not starve, however the food was somewhat not the greatest, you have to realize a hurricane category 5 just passed thru the island so we were expecting the quality of the food to be low. I survived on pizza, bread, and cheeses sandwiches. Tried one of the A'la cartes, and it was a step up from the buffet food. We adventure ourselves to go into town for cheap and fantastic cuban food, I can recommend "La Campana" restaurant. Staff at the hotel was very nice, and pleasant specially the ladies at the Cohiba bar, Yoenis, Kendra, and Milay I think are their names. Phenomenal service, and the cocktails they prepared were top notch.

Room and Housekeeping: room was located on the 3rd floor facing the ocean on the main building, renovated, bright, clean and spacious. The bed was comfy :) . The maid service was ok, our room was always clean, and fresh towels were provided every two days. AC worked perfectly throughout our stay, and we did not have any issues with hot water.

Beach and pools: the Caribbean ocean is why you go to Cuba, gorgeous blue - turquoise waters, warm, with white sand beneath your feet. The beach at this resort is breathtaking lots of room, and sun lounges. The main pool at the hotel was kind of basic, but we barely spent any time there, most of our time was on the beach.

Overall it was a great week in paradise, remember that one of the main reasons you travel to Cuba is for the stunning beaches, charismatic and warm Cuban folks, and their delicious rum (Santiago). Adjust your expectations when you leave home, and you will do just fine.

First some context. We arrived a couple weeks after the hurricane. So we didn't choose this hotel, our original choice was closed for repairs. Secondly, Cuba is a poor country suffering an embargo from the US. So expectations should be managed accordingly when considering anywhere in Cuba
That said, we had a wonderful stay there and would recommend it to anyone.
Staff were polite, often friendly and always helpful.
Rooms were clean, relatively modern and everything worked.Maintenance was obviously a priority while we were there
Food is probably the weakest point. It is not bad but not exciting either. You won't starve but you won't be asking the chef for the recipe either.
The beach is beautiful. The onsite shop covers the basics.
The on site medical support was also very good. A prescription was delivered to the hotel from the pharmacy.
Considering this wasn't the hotel we chose it was a nice surprise and wouldn't be concerned if we ended up there again

Room Tip: The WIFI card can be used at the airport
