The place is Art Deco and has a cool lobby and garden area with a small pool. The manager, Ramon, speaks excellent English as well as other languages and is extremely helpful. The inclusive breakfast is made to order and really delicious.
The only knocks are that the rooms are on the small size (don't expect American standards) and for older adults the stairs and slippery bath tub/shower might be a problem.

The Hotel Villa Colonial is in a great location in Old Town and is absolutely gorgeous. When you walk in the front door it is like a haven from the rest of the world. Our room was a good size and very clean with TV, safe, toiletries, water and monogrammed towels. The WIFI worked well. The pool is small but very refreshing after a hot day out and about in Santo Domingo. The breakfast is just delicious and there is plenty of choice and quantity and it is served with a big smile. The staff are very helpful and we absolutely recommend and would stay here again in a heartbeat.

we had a wonderful stay and got a free upgrade to a suite which was a pleasant surprise. the suite was very beautiful decorated and stylish, even with a private balcony.
the breakfast was served with much love to detail, no buffet.

we stayed for 2 nights, but were a bit disappointed by santo domingo, 1 night would have been enough.

We loved the hotel, beautiful building, good position, fabulous decor, wonderful breakfast, great staff. And Ramon - an amazing help, speaks at least 3 languages fluently, loves his work, was so helpful with advice and suggestions while we were there but also before I even booked with him and all the time leading up to our visit. Without him our visit to DR wouldnt have been as amazing as it was, he helped us with bus timetables, where to get on, and off, and booked our bus to Las Terrenas for us which was like a magic pass, we only had to mention the name of his hotel and we had star treatment. Thank you so much Ramon for all that you did. We had a fabulous time.

Room Tip: I think probably all the rooms are good, they lead off fron a communal veranda or passageway, ours were on the 1st floor.

My partner and I stayed at Hotel Villa Colonial for 3 nights in February and had a fantastic time. Ramon and his staff were incredibly welcoming and helped us to plan our visit. The hotel is nicely designed throughout, comfortable and clean. The breakfasts were especially good. Excellent location in Zona Colonial. I would recommend this hotel as a base from which to explore this interesting city.
