I want to be fair in this review. Yes, some of the staff was very nice/kind (Willy from concierge-related services comes to mind), but overall, the treatment that I received at this resort was disturbing and unacceptable. Mind you, I am Black American, so my experience may not be the same as others. I was often served last - after all of the white people and the locals. I was constantly told to speak Spanish - although I don't speak Spanish because I'm American and not Latino.. and no matter how often I explained this to everyone - no one believed me. Also, I was told that bars and restaurants were close only to have locals or other guest be greeted with open arms. This all made for an extremely uncomfortable experience where I felt like a second class citizen. If I was treated this way in the United States, I would absolutely pursue filing a discrimination complaint against the facility. No question.
Furthermore, outside of the race issues, the resort is old/dated.. the food was below average (although the breakfast buffet was good and the hibachi restaurant was fine). The beach is filled with people trying to sell you things.. and the entertainment was... well.. not entertaining. On the positive side, the COVID restrictions were very solid.
