We were near the church and got approached by a local (thought it was a scam instantly). He pointed down the street and told us there was a great restaurant. We did see a restaurant, so we walked down the street and found this place. The meatballs and chicken were very good. You choose rice and beans or French fries with you meal and it also comes with salad. Enjoy with a beer!
Close to Restauracion Park and to the American Embassy this typical restaurant on the upper floor of a traditional Dominican building is clean, simply furnished and quite.
I came because suggested by local friends for testing lobsters.
As a start ask for a fish soup or some other seafood appetizer for do not wait the long "island time" that you would never want. The average price is about $ 35-40.
Don't buy meat.

The menu prices looked good and the food was tasty. However, we were in for a surprise when the bill came. The "cheap" appetizer recommended by the waiter was $1900 pesos. And all the sides that came that were insinuated as part of the price of a meal were extra as well. These sides were never offered as optional. All together we spent over $100 US dollars for lunch. This was for three adults and two little kids. In the Dominican Republic we could have eaten at a much nicer restaurant and had much better food for this price (probably less). I recommend skipping this place, or at least make sure what you are paying for before it comes.
Located in old colonial building, on the second floor, very breezy, surrounded by a terrace on two sides. This is a local restaurant, local food is best in such places - don't order burgers! I had one of the best sopa de pescado (fish soup) for the entire month of stay in DR, my friend had a very tasty lettuce, egg and tomato sandwich, made to order (not on the menu). Yes, we waited a bit, but it was worth it.
