Couples San Souci was an excellent choice for our anniversary trip the last week in September! It was very relaxing with beautiful lush landscaping and that true, tropical Jamaican vibe which one seeks for rejuvenation. I learned during the morning walking tour that the accommodations are named after flowers, so we were in “Frangipani” “F” building right above the reception area high on the cliff. Our room F7 was spacious, very clean with large bedroom and balcony. At this location “F” & “G”, you’ll have a lot of walking but we didn’t mind especially since it was a great workout for glutes. If the stairs are daunting, then request accommodations on the main level across the main pool & beach.

In addition to main beach and au natural beach, there are two other access points to swim, one near the grotto and the other down below the mineral pool. Mineral pool, Jacuzzi & grottos are fed from natural underwater river, and you can see fresh water pour into the ocean at the access point by the grotto. I gravitated to these areas for the shear serenity. We especially enjoyed our couples’ massages with the lemongrass scrub, our quiet time during the week before lunch at the mineral pool & Jacuzzi left our skins so soft, a brisk dip in the mineral grotto twice was invigorating, daily stop at the smoothie bar and swimming in the ocean away from the main water activities. Numerous watersports activities are included along with the glass-bottom boat tour which was interesting to hear about the local land & the James Bond movies filmed on location. We’ve been to Jamaica several times but this is the first resort offering excursions that you would normally pay for such as the trip to Dunn Rivers Falls, Margaretville, Golf & Shopping.

CSS served quality drinks and the food was also very good. My favorite restaurant was Casanova serving mouth-watering lamb chops and on Wednesdays lobster tails. For breakfast we usually ordered room service with eggs the way we wanted, hot delicious Jamaican coffee and fruit & pastries overflowing (be mindful of the times because it’s not 24 hrs). If we felt energetic by 9am we’d go to the buffet at the Palazzina, lunch there as well or by the beach at Buena Vista where I often ordered jerk chicken w/ slaw & yummy crispy fries. Two evenings during the week dinner is served on the main lawn but get there early for the best pickings as I missed out on dessert one night.

Evening activities consisted of the entertainment team/band culminating at 11pm sing-along at the Balloon Bar. It was quite fun to end the night singing with the piano man & everyone else not ready to retire for the night. However, all activities ended by 12am and the resort fell still and all that can be heard are the frogs in the distance.

My husband & I are grateful for the friendly & hard-working staff who made our stay more enjoyable Jackie & Simone at Oasis Spa, Delroy at the pool bar, Rayon at the Balloon Bar, waitresses at Palazzina & Casanova, the attendants who promptly arrived with our room service, housekeeping always kept our rooms clean & with turn-down service. We’re among many who return year after year to Jamaica because of the genuinely kind hospitality, caring service and Couples San Souci has mastered what is required to meet your needs for the vacation you desire. Never before, have I returned home with a greater sense of island calm & peace.

Room Tip: If you want to avoid stairs, choose buildings on the main level.

Have been going to Couples San Souci for over eight years, this resort never fails to impress, the people are fantastic, you'll meet repeat guest on every visit, have even been recognized at Club Mobay by one of their former employees, the people there will make you visit magical and you'll want to come back year after year. Do not forget to experience the entire resort, look for the resided peacock and visit Sunset Beach. Say hello to Clive the roving sax player.

It was a wonderful experience to have gone there and indulge in the cuisine and delectable ambiance of the property. The people were warm and friendly to us and kind. i must say a heart of gratitude to the housekeeping staff for their superb job of keeping the room at its cleanliness and beauty, truly the environment and the beach area were well kept and the tranquility of the surroundings was awesome. The Friday night was spectacular with the different performers and singers to top off a wonderful night.

This was our first trip to Jamaica, a Couples resort and an all-inclusive resort, and we enjoyed the entire week! We spent the majority of our time at the beach and pool, with the swim up bar service area being a great feature. The resort is beautiful and the grounds are well-maintained. We had read the reviews about lots of stairs and that is very accurate, but we did not have any issues.

We had a suite on the lower level, looking out on the beach and pool area. It was not a full ocean view, but we could see some water. The only downside to this location was that it put us right up against the entertainment area on Jamaica night and the Gala. From our room, we could hear the Gala entertainment noise and the music played during teardown, which was too loud for those having to get up early the next morning to catch their flights.

The food at the restaurants was pretty good with variety, including vegetarian options. We took advantage of room service for breakfast on 5 mornings and they were very prompt to deliver at the time requested. We ate at the beach restaurant several days, but it is the same menu for lunch every day, so that got a little old. The dinner options at the 2 restaurants were good, with the soup and dessert being the highlights of the meals. It would be helpful if they posted the dinner menus, so that you could make better choices on which restaurant you wanted to go to for dinner.

There are plenty of beach activities to take advantage of during your stay and they are free. We took the glass bottom boat trip, which was a nice 30 minute excursion. We also did the side trip to Dunn's Falls, which was complimentary. That is a must do during your trip, just make sure you have your water shoes and can handle some strenuous workout.

Overall, it is the employees that make this resort so enjoyable. Isabella and Andrea at Pallazino and Roadian at Cassanova provided top notch service during our dinners. The majority of the staff we encountered we pleasant and very welcoming. We enjoyed our trip to Jamaica and are looking forward to another return!

Our last visit to CSS was in 2014. We really did feel like we were returning "home" this past August 2017. It was just lovely, as I've stated before. I won't repeat the same comments. Please read the the reviews. No, it is not as contemporary or as updated as the newer properties....with 8 restaurants and 700 rooms. ..which is WHY we love it. The rooms are dated...but very clean and well managed.
CSS has its own special "presence" and character in Ocho Rios. It is calm , beautiful, relaxing, joyful. The staff are terrific. Yes, part of it it is on a hill....but the views are amazing and there are shortcut jungle pathways....that are fun to discover! GO FOR IT..enjoy a little piece of heaven.

Room Tip: Book a one bedroom ocean view suite. Views are amazing! Balconies large and well furnished.
