Banana's Garden Bed & Breakfast
Ranked #8 of 50 Negril B&B and Inns
Reviewed 17 February 2013

My husband and I just returned home from a 9 day/night stay at Banana's Garden in Negril. From the moment we were greeted in the garden by Opal, I could feel the stress of life and work melt off my body. I literally watched my husband's face let go of the stress of work and the go-go of life as we walked in the garden and looked around at all the beautiful trees, plants, and flowers.

Banana's Garden is not your traditional vacation, your traditional hotel, or traditional owner. Nicole (owner of the property) is one of the most kind and welcoming people I have ever met. Every morning you can taste the extra love she puts in to her baking and cooking for her guests. (All of which is all natural and just so super delicious!!!). Every evening a little note is pinned outside your cabin and you can select the options that you would like Nicole to whip up for the next morning. I would be totally remiss if I didn't mention that every morning I the most delicious pot of french press jamaican coffee calling my name as I got out of bed!

Nicole and her banana family are happy to arrange any outings that you want to partake in while Jamaica. My husband and I were pretty burnt out and to be honest- we just wanted to relax. That meant going to the caves across the street or taking a 2 dollar cab ride to the round-about and finding a spot on the beach. The beach in Negril is breathtaking, and the temperature is absolutely perfect for cooling off and staying warm. Although we attempted to think about exploring the country-(we felt guilty for being lazy) as Nicole said- we needed to listen to our bodies, and our bodies just needed to rest and relax.

So we stuck by our routine: after our swimming and beach adventures of the day, we would head home pumped to see the banana garden family. Literally- every day that we walked home through the gates it was like walking back to our own home in a sweet little community. We stayed in the Ackee Cottage, and when we go back, we will stay in this cottage again. You cannot imagine how SPOTLESS and inviting this cute little cottage is. The crew at Banana's Garden takes so much pride in their home and that means they don't allow a spec of dust or dirt or yuckiness in any of the cottages. The little kitchen was perfect for storing snacks.

As we left Banana's Garden yesterday we were truly sad. Not only did we feel that we made and were leaving great friends, but we felt as if we were leaving a home. Sitting on the porch in the morning, and night and just observing the beautiful surroundings was enough to take your mind away from all the stress of work and life.

Banana's Garden holds a very special place in our heart. Hopefully you will be lucky enough to travel there one day too.

Room Tip: There is no bad room in Banana's Garden. They are all perfect.

We have stayed at several other places on the cliffs and on the beach, but Bananas Garden is our favorite. The first trip we stayed in the garden was just adults, and the trip we just returned from was with our kids, 10 and 16 yrs old. We all agreed it was even better than the more expensive placed we stayed at on cliffside oceanfront property. We'll be back again.

Hello,
My husband, daughter and I stayed at Bananas garden for a week mid-January. We had such a fantastic time. We knew the place would feel like home as soon as we passed by the place at night with our rent a car, and Nicole and Opal were outside at 8pm waiting for us with a flashlight and looking for us! They were both so attentive to our needs and so amazingly friendly. Everyone at Bananas' Garden is so kind, especially Nicole and her family. Breakfasts are delicious and prepared so freshly every morning. The pool is relaxing and surrounded by a lush garden, which our daughter loved discovering every day. For urban residents, this is paradise. The place is also very well located on the cliffs, and you can easily go to one of the restaurants or cafes on the cliffs to swim down there and snorkel. We did this a few times (while Opal and Nicole took care of our daughter --- very generous option to have!) and loved it. We rented a car, which we parked just inside the garden, and this was great. Renting a car is a great way to explore beautiful Negril and Jamaica, and we felt so happy to have done this (even if we were not used to driving on the left side of the road. You get used to it!). Isabelle

We spent this Christmas in Banana´s garden in Negril and it was awesome!
We had coconut cottage, a very clean and cosy cottage, very good equiped, nice design, ikea and jamaican mixture. I felt like at home from the very first moment. The garden is big enough,so you always can hide a little just to relax or read a book. In the morning you can hear all the birds singing. Nicole makes a delicious breakfast, caribbean style, vegan muffins,.....mmmmmm so good!
The hotel is located near to the cliffs, where you can swim in cristal clear water, dive or even swim with Nicole´s mermaidstuff......it was so funny!
Opal, the lady who helps Nicole made a lovley dinner for us, jamaican jerk chicken, rice, beans......very nice! Thank you Opal! All in all it was like beeing with friends and not the normal hotel experience! Vacacions how it should be!!! We will come again!!

Our family of four (two girls 12 & 14) just had the best family vacation and couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay. Nicole’s breakfast was awesome and we looked forward to it every morning; you have to ask her to make banana pancakes, yum! We like to escape the commercial feel when we travel and Banana’s Garden gave us that opportunity with the comforts of home plus a little pampering. The staff is wonderful and offer a connection to the island people you will not get anywhere else. The Garden is safe to the point where our kids enjoyed their time without mom and dad around while we had a date-night out just the two of us. All of us feel like we left family at the Garden; we will miss Nicole, her son Jonah and the rest of the staff. Thank you for a wonderful week!
