Was my second time in Jamaica.
This is an amazzing little gem in a perfect location.
If you wanna live Jamaican style this is great.
We did alot of touring all around the east coast and each time we returned to town I kept thinking our place was the best spot.
I will most definitly be returning
Wow! What a wonderful week stay at Tranquil Retreat! My friend Melanie booked through Donna and the ease of booking and communication from Donna was assurance that we were in for an awesome stay. The property itself is perfect- just outside the city centre on a hill but close to local amenities. There is a small bar at the bottom of the hill with a DJ on Wednesday evening that we enjoyed. A beautiful patio overlooks the sights and sounds of the town and there is a line to hang wash. There are breadfruit trees, jackfruit trees, and some hilarious fowl that run through for your enjoyment. The property felt so safe and secure with motion sensor lighting outside, security camera and grills on windows and patio. Inside was bright, spacious, and clean. We could not ask for more! We had fresh coffee every morning from the coffee maker provided, were able to do a load of wash using the machine and just full joy the vibes of the place! Staff Dale, Keisha, Clark, and owner Donna were extremely hospitable and checked in to ensure we had everything we needed. I write this from a property I am staying at in Ocho Rios and finding myself longing for the solitude, vibes, and amenities Tranquil Retreats provided us. I will surely, surely recommend this guest house for anyone visiting Port Antonio and will most certainly look to stay here in the future. Many thanks!
One of the reasons we decided to stay at this property was Donna (the owner)'s responsiveness to emails. She was really great with getting us all the info we needed to know. She's in the States, so we didn't get to meet her in person, but she checked in on us several times by phone, and the housekeeper who let us in, Winsome, was really wonderful.
The apartment is located on the outskirts of Port Antonio, with route taxis (100$J) passing by every few minutes to get into town. A convenience store is a couple minutes walk from the house. It's very spacious- one large bedroom with a queen bed, stand-up fan, full bathroom (cold water only), and then another bed in the living room (ceiling fan), plenty of room for 4 to sleep. There's also a 1/2 bath, laundry room with washing machine, spacious kitchen with full-size fridge, gas oven, microwave, and living room, and a entry porch. The house had cable and wi-fi. No a/c, but we found the temperature very comfortable with the fans.
There were several great attractions nearby, including Reach Falls, rafting on the Rio Grande, and Blue Lagoon, as well as several beaches.
