We were not able to get our room until 5:30, 1 & 1/2 hours after the check in time. A huge crowd had the same experience. Things were so bad they ran out of places for people to sit unless you find sitting on a hard floor comfortable. We were told we could use the pool or beach. However, they ran out of beach towels so that wasn’t an option. While the room was sort of trendy chic, it was awkward. There was only one place to put a suitcase (there were no additional luggage stands) two drawers for clothes and only a couple of places to hang towels in the bathroom. The room had no microwave, coffeemaker, Kleenex or cups. The coffee situation wouldn’t be so bad if they had room service. They don’t. If you want coffee, you must go to the bakery in the lobby and wait in line behind 10 other people. That’s terrible if you enjoy coffee to wake up in the morning. We were told the lack of amenities was due to COVID. That’s a joke since there was a grimy public microwave by the ice machine and this is much unhealthier than providing these amenities in the room. What can possibly be dangerous about providing cups and kleenex? They also ran out of beach towels three times during our 3 day stay.

The facility is attractive, the pool and beach are great. Unfortunately, all the other shortcomings really made our stay here unpleasant.

We decided to cancel our all inclusive Dreams
Adventura vacation due to CDC covid requirements for traveling outside the US. We are Marriott members and have always had a great experience with these resorts so thought we’d go to San Juan for spring break with our 3 daughters and another family. From the moment we arrived last Monday until today, the experience has been awful. First, we are paying over $6k to stay here and when we called to book, we made it clear we needed adjoining rooms with our daughters who are 10,13, and 15. Not only were our rooms not adjoining, they were not on the same floor! After waiting in an extremely long line at the front desk, we were able to switch rooms the 2nd day. Unacceptable customer service.

This hotel has no service whatsoever. There is no wait staff at the pool or beach. The lobby bar has one person bartending. The restaurants are all takeout and do not open when they are scheduled to open. When they do open, there are long lines and wait times.

There is no room service or maid service. In 7 nights, no one came to clean our rooms, empty the garbages, or replenish towels and other toiletries. We were given two towels in each room. The floors were slippery and full of sand. The bed was made with sheets only. No comforter or blanket. When I called to get more towels they answered but never came with the towels. After that no one answered the phone at the front desk. Our garbages were overflowing so I found a garbage can by the ice machine that was also overflowing. I saw someone in the hallway with a cart of towels and was able to grab a few more clean towels.

Security wouldn’t allow us in the pool area after a certain time due to capacity issues even though we are paying a $100 per day resort fee. Everyday they ran out of pool towels. The pool floor was extremely slippery. We saw many people wipe out.

The beach was nice but there is no lifeguard on duty. There are large boulders at the shoreline in front of the resort that is not blocked off. We saw many children and adults unknowingly get swept up in a wave and crash into those rocks. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt while we were there but I am sure not everyone has been so lucky.

Finally, this is not an appropriate resort for small children. Grown adults twerking at the pool. Loud and profanity laced music blaring throughout the beach and pool area.

If I could do it all over again, I’d take my chances with covid and go to the Dreams resort we initially planned.

Hopefully this review will help one family make a better choice.

Stayed here for a week and had issues the first day. After booking adjoining rooms weeks ago, we checked in to find our first night had separate rooms on different floors. Not good when you have kids. They fixed it the next day but we had to move our stuff.
Do not plan on room service, or cleaning of your rooms. The service comes by and if your lucky by being in your room, they will take your garbage and old towels. Always ask for double the amount you need because you will be standing in line requesting more.
The pool bar doesn't open until noon and because of that there is a massive line once they open. The swim up pool bar is closed. The drink prices are normal, 8 dollars for a margarita, but food prices are outrageous, 18 dollars for a chicken sandwich. There are plenty of places around this hotel to eat. My advice is save some chairs (wake up early) and go get breakfast or lunch, then spend time at the pool or beach. They do not allow you to bring in food or drink to the pool area. I did bring a yeti cup with alcohol and was not questioned. Main reason for this, the lines!! CVS and Walgreens are right next door and both sell everything. There are no Truly's in Puerto Rico so we made our own.
The pool area runs out of towels on a consistent basis which is annoying as hell. On the third day we were here they only started allowing a certain number of people in the pool area, even if you have all your stuff sitting there, they make you wait. The majority of security is dressed all in black which optically presents a militaristic type atmosphere. They are very big on masks and will let you know.
Complaints fall on deaf ears. For being mask nuts they definitely didn't care about overbooking. The place was absolutely packed. Many people voiced they frustration over the pool area capacity.
The staff was very pleasant and very helpful when you found them. The hardest working guy is the beach attendant. He is hustling chairs and umbrellas for people. Make sure you tip him...well.
Make reservations early at restaurants. They fill up early.
Last few things, pool area is very slippery even when walking, almost fell twice and saw other people hit the ground hard. BEWARE OF THE ROCKS!! You will see them as soon as you hit the beach. Stay at least a hundred yards from them. The ocean will gradually pull you over to them so always watch your location. I saw many kids being rescued from the area. The waves will push you into them. If you get caught near them, let the water naturally take you to the other side and get out there. Just avoid them.

Room tip: Ocean view or pool side

Booked a last-minute trip to San Juan, and as a Marriott platinum member, I always stay at Marriotts. Traveling with my friend who enjoys casinos, so picked this hotel primarily for its location and it’s beautiful pool. Right off the bat, check in was a disaster, as a platinum member I can check in two days early and usually I have my room ready for me when I get here. I had said I would check in at three, I didn’t get here till after 3:30, and my room was not ready. My room was not ready until after 5 o’clock, and we were cutting it pretty close because we had 7 PM dinner reservations in old San Juan. The next day when going to the pool, there were no pool towels available. That was the theme for the whole five days I was here, was trying to get a pool towel. There were lots of people here with families and they were grabbing up all the towels, there was nobody there to kind of restrict the towels, and it was really a big production to try and get a towel. The two places that were open for breakfast, the buffet and the little café in the lobby, were understaffed, and you waited forever to get served. They did offer a mobile app that you could order ahead and pick up, which did not work the whole five days I was here. All of the ATM machines that were in the hotel we’re not working, or working sporadically. I had to change my flight and went to their business center, which consisted of two computers in the lobby, which did not work. I went to the front desk and asked and they said all those computers don’t work we don’t have a business center right now. A little sign or something on those computers would’ve been nice, what was I supposed to do if I couldn’t change my flight over the phone? Understandably because of Covid restrictions, they don’t come in every day to clean your room. However, they tell you that every third day they will come in and clean your room well that didn’t happen either. On the third day I had to go down to the front desk and ask about it she said oh yeah the third or the fourth day, and really by that point we only had one more day left here. I also attempted to call and get fresh towels and wash clause for the room, which was also difficult to come by. The first two days you really do want to give them a chance, because of Covid restrictions and we’re right not really sure how that is affecting service here, but speaking with people that have stayed here in the past pre-Covid have said that this has always been an issue in this hotel. I’m actually pretty surprised that they were this many issues at a Marriott. I’ve stayed at Marriotts literally all over the world, and I’ve never seen such poor management before. I would not recommend staying here just because it could be very frustrating when you’re looking to get certain services completed. The pool was absolutely beautiful and the staff friendly, but the management of the entire hotel was poor. I did like that there was a water bottle filling machine by the pool.

Our trip was fantastic from beginning to end. We have traveled to Puerto Rico many times and the Marriott is one of our favorite places to stay. The location is perfect (walking distance to many restaurants and shops) and the beach is beautiful. Covid has changed a lot of things - but Jose Gonzalez and his team continue to provide excellent service. These are challenging times for the travel industry and those of us who are lucky enough to be able to travel need to understand that. Every time we have stayed here we have received exceptional service and this time was no different. We wanted a simple vacation, lots of beach time and no aggravation - and that is exactly what we got! We arrived at the hotel on Friday at 2pm. We were quickly checked in - our room was in the cabana building on the 8th floor. This room was newly renovated, clean and had a spectacular ocean (and pool) view. Loved sitting on the balcony. We spent each day at the beach - service here was top notch. The beach attendants were helpful, friendly and hard working. Every morning Fabian and Janiel had our chairs and umbrella waiting for us. They went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed for a great beach day! The resort was clean and followed all covid protocols. We will definitely be returning! Thank you to Jose and all of the staff that we had the pleasure of interacting with.
