I should be aware that the Uber guy warned me in the route to the hotel that he had some experiences with people complaining about the hotel, but i did not think it could happen with me. Room with no air conditioning working as it should, one day before a long plane trip. There was no solution for the problem so I had a terrible night given there was no other host alternative in the city in that day - but I found an hotel far away from the city and tried to negotiate a refund with the employee, and he said that he could taking decisions without his manager in person, use telephone to consult him was not an alternative. Plus, photos of the room were not quite precise - the space for shower will be a huge problem for someone overweighted and you sleep looking for the latrine, literally.

I have to be fair and say Senor Cristobal was very kind at the beginning, but I warned room service about the air conditioning 4 hours before come back to the hotel and it seemed it was the first time I have had reported the problem - even with him verifying in person if the room was ok. Sad, really sad choice and one of two free nights in SJ lost to solve this situation. I really really understand that an equipment can have a problem and the hotel is full - but they SHOULD have a employee with autonomy to solve this type of question( but this guy, poor guy, demonstrated extreme fear of Senor Cristobal - worst, he just delay and delay and delay until so late that there was no alternative but be there, given generally these platforms limit reservations at the same day to 10pm.

Look for support on Hotels.com was also a joke as they say they can do nothing, they could not even try to do the reservation that is blocked after 10pm to me, as a global platform for this purpose (what?). To complete the scene, that is the scene that he wanted not to give back the money, Senor Cristobal, the kind old guy from the beginning, appeared in my room 1130pm and said that “if you want, that’s what you have. If is not what you want, stop complaining (actually he used the F word), pack your bags and get away from here”.

Humiliated and tired, my only possibilities were to accept the fan (by the way, my suggestion), sleep on the streets or sleep in the airport. As long as I saw the dead end, I tried to sleep. In the hotel Iberia. So as long as you entered there, there is no way for Senor Cristobal to give you money back, you lose. Your money, your dignity and your night in San Juan. If they agreed in a refund earlier, nothing of it could be happened.

Just to be clear: San Juan is an amazing city with amazing people but this situation was so bizarre that cannot be forget. Just be VERY AWARE about your choice.

The hotel is old, and charming. The staff is excellent and offered good advice for things to do. No elevators didn't bother us as they helped with the luggage up and down from our room. The grocery store and Starbucks nearby satisfied the coffee and food requirements. The terrace upstairs was a nice spot to enjoy the city sounds of the tree toads.

Since we visited after a hurricane devastated Puerto Rico (there weren't many hotels open), I expected issues with electricity requirements and water, but we found none of those. The minor repairs needed add to the charm.

I stayed here for 6 nights in the aftermath of Hurricane Maria. This is a beautiful, if old, well-maintained hotel, with a pleasant terrace and a helpful staff. Parking is limited but was not a problem. At night there was some noise, possibly due to generators in the post-Maria clean up effort. It is a about 2 blocks from the beach in Condado, behind the fancier high-rise hotels one block from the beach. It was easy to drive from here in and out of San Juan. The rooms are air conditioned but the hallways are not, it can be a bit muggy in the lobby. However, the hallways are beautifully directed with fine photographs and art and sculpture.

worse hotel in puerto rico , dirty sheets with stain , mattress harder than pavement the strings are out and the metal is sticking out hurts like nail bed , the ac unit is a wall unit make heavy noise go figure you can't sleep , then comes the best part of it all the stairs out of a scary movie with more stairs than the empire building , if you are with elderly people or kids and luggage or with a wounded person forget about it will take you more than 10 minutes to make it to your room if you are lucky , i never rated a hotel this low but this one really deserve nothing else but this , they need a shake up and a remodeling and a price check , the only thing that is fair about hotel iberia is the location not the parking they pretend to have ... you park in the street not their parking they have 4 small spots that's it they mislead you on that one as well they should mention they don't have an elevator and that they only have stairs worse one to climb . i don't recommend this hotel at all , it's nasty , dirty , over priced and not worth it .

Room Tip: don't book there you will thank me forever
