Saba Hotel - El Momo Resort

Pros

- relatively inexpensive (was booked through Sea Saba dive/hotel package)
- awesome views of the island and ocean from the room decks
- no worries about mosquitoes as the place was pretty high up on the mountain

Cons

- need to take MANY steep steps up to the resort and to the rooms, few railings so need to be careful especially at night
- bathrooms are external to rooms and use only compose toilets (no tissues can be thrown in)
- no locks on doors so need to bring own lock box/safe although facility is very high up (steps)
- no screens on windows although there wasn't any major flying insect issues
- in addition to steep steps, need to take steep road to Windermere town
- breakfasts were reported to be nothing special and pricey for what you get at the hotel restaurant which does not operate all the time

Conclusion on El Momo

I would not recommend El Momo unless you are okay with many steep steps plus the steep road to town.  If you have lots of luggage and scuba gear, you need to bring them up these steps at least for arrival until you can just leave them with the dive operator.

Room Tip: Try to get room closer to main office/pool level to avoid more steps and don't come with lots of...

Nice, cozy, comfortable and clean. Andries and his staff found alternate transportation back to St Maarten last week after Winair cancelled my flight. Can't thank them enough for all the help they gave. A must stay. I'll be back next time when staying at Saba.

We had a wonderful four day stay at El Momo Cottages. The cottages are perched high up on the island with stunning views of the Caribbean and Mt Scenery. They are picturesque little cottages with good wi-fi and the bathrooms are nearby. Andreis and Eva are wonderful hosts and take pride in their establishment. Everything at El Momo is very clean. The Windward side village is a short ten minute walk and has bars, restaurants, and other shops. If you are looking for a quiet, laid back get away I would highly reccomend El Momo on Saba island.

If you like camping but would like just a few more ameneties, then El Momo is for you. Andreis & his wife are affable laid back folks. The pool was nicely maintained & the overlook hangout is perfect for chilling with your squad or chatting with world travellers.

We had the most relaxing and delightful week imaginable in Sunshine Cottage, perched high above the Caribbean Sea with stunning views of Mount Scenery and surrounding peaks and valleys in morning sun and golden sunsets. Hosts Andries and Eva were so warm and generous and our fellow guests made a happy little community. We had delicious breakfasts in the open air dining area, walked down to Windwardside for wonderful meals, hiked up and down all over the island, and cooled off in the blue swimming pool. The simple, tidy, and homey style of El Momo suited us perfectly: no stress, plenty of privacy as well as companionship when we wanted it, and good advice about exploring the island. The beauty of the setting and the friendliness of the people--which mirrors the feeling of Saba itself--makes us yearn to return to Sunshine Cottage again. Of all the places we've stayed in the islands, El Momo is our absolute favorite.

Room Tip: If you want to experience nature on your doorstep in plenty of comfort then it's for you.
