We have just returned from 2 wks at the Bay Gardens Beach Resort and Spa, Rodney Bay, and can agree with many of the previous comments about the hotel - the staff are very friendly and welcoming, in fact all the locals are, so to save repeating those comments I thought it more helpful to comment on the resort itself.
Firstly, we had dreadful weather, and from speaking to others it seems this actually isn't unusual for April/May time, eventhough 'officially' it's not the rainy season. One couple got married on a day when it rained non-stop, we felt so sorry for them, so would never recommend this destination if looking for somewhere to get married around this time of year. As a result of the wet conditions there are alot of mosiquitos - although the hotel sprayed the room for us when requested we still got bitten a number of times, we think from around the pool and out in the evening.
Regardless of the much hyped Jazz Festival (which was a wash out on many of the planned dates), Rodney Bay was very very quiet. Bars and restaurants were empty or had just one or two lonely diners - there was just no buzz/no atmosphere around the resort.
Overall, the island is lovely but we could only recommend perhaps at the height of season. We got it wrong and thought the climate would be a lot better than it was this time of year, but then perhaps everyone else knows this and that's why it's deserted...!
Finally, be prepared for a long transfer from Hewanorra airport to the resort - it is 1 1/2hrs up and down winding hills. A good way to see the Island but not for those that get car sick!

We stayed at Bay Gardens for 14 nights 20 April - 4 May 12.( From Scotland)
Have visited several other Caribbean islands but this was far the most relaxing and chilled holiday we have had in this part of the world.
The hotel is located in a quiet location at the end of Reduit Beach, in the small village of Rodney Bay.
If you want a relaxing holiday with good food , good location. and lovely people then this is it.
When we visited the hotel/resort was a bit quieter as we were at the end of the busy season which meant a lot less buzz about the place but that meant no problems in getting into restaurants./getting sunbeds.
The hotel itself is directly on the beach in several blocks on 2 floors.
We were in the slightly cheaper garden block. We had slight problem with our room on arrival but this was promptly rectified by moving us the next day.
Although termed a garden room you actually have a great view of the river where you can see all the yachts /local boats travelling up and down. You can also see the sea - so could be termed as partial sea view.
Room had all the usual amenities with a full fridge! Bathroom and shower excellent. Some of furniture and TV a little dated but I think the hotel have started an upgrading programme.
Beds ( 2 Queens) very comfortable.
Serviced daily and very well.
Note: there are some rooms with no balcolnies so you hould stipulate if you want one.
Only ate in hotel at buffet breakfast which was good with almost everything
you would wish. Fruit juice adequate.
Although did visit Trios Restaurant , part of hotel for dinner which was excellent.
Pool lovely with plentiful supply of towels.
Beach very nice too and very quiet with acqua activites available and boat trips to nearby Pigeon Island,/ further afield.
Sectioned area in sea to swim.
Plentiful supply of restaurants in Rodney Bay all within about 10-20 mins walk of hotel catering for every kind of food. All to a very high standard. Especially liked Buzz - Caribbean and La Terrace- French. Razmataz Tandoori ( nepalese) also very good.
Indeed we never had a bad meal. Bonus is you can buy a good bottle of wine with your meal if you wish.
Prices about the same as/slighly cheaper than UK.
Couple of newish shopping malls too with two supermarkets to stock up the fridge.
Cant say enough about the people. Very friendly and most seem genuinly pleased that you have taken the time to visit their lovely island.
Hotel staff generally very attentive and most helpful with nothing too much trouble.
Even said hello to one of local hotel owners on departure
1 and half hours from airport so on very hilly winding roads so should factor that in.
All in all a great holday in a most relaxing and friendly location in a most welcolming hotel.
Will definitely go back.

Room Tip: Best rooms sea facing, though really no bad location.

We loved this resort. We went out on a limb by picking this resort without any references. Everything was perfect and we intend to return here again. The staff was outstanding - so friendly. The rooms were clean. The food was good. We stayed in a pool view suite and were extremely happy with it. We would definitely choose it again. It was wonderful to sit on the patio each morning. The resort is quiet and the pool was a pleasant surprise - very large. Although there were cats around, they were not a problem at all.

In addition, we visited the Spa. We had never been to one before and enjoyed the services much more than we expected. Ask for Tessa or Nadia!!!! :)

On the down side, there were some mosquitos in our room and the pillows were a little hard. Nothing to worry about though - we will be back.

This resort is on the best part of the beach and was within walking distance to town and various places to dine.

Room Tip: Ground floor pool view had a great relaxing view and was very convenient to all facilities.

I felt there were more things I disliked about this hotel than those that I liked, I know that a lot of people book this place for their honeymoon, if it was me I would be very disappointed. My main issue was just the general standard of service and care which was very low.

- Room was spacious and clean
- Pool area was very quiet (in terms of people there) and the pool and hot tub was very nice
- Hotel is local to a good choice of restaurants

- Both the safe and balcony door needed to be fixed when we arrived in our room
-The service in the hotel restaurants and bars etc was very poor, the staff seemed to lack any passion or care
- I ordered a cappucino on one day and was told the machine was broken, I don't think they were even getting it fixed
- Breakfast buffet was way overpriced for the selection of food available and the poor quality
- We tried room service a few times for breakfast and it was overpriced for what we got, it was mainly cold and they seemed to substitute a lot of items that we had ordered with alternatives without even mentioning it! I think they just selected things from the buffet and put it on a plate
- The beach is not a very quiet or relaxing one due to all of the beach sellers
- The pool, whilst quiet in terms of people, has music blasting out all day which is not very enjoyable
- Pillows were very uncomfortable

Having spent our honeymoon here last year, and enjoyed it so much, we decided to return. We were not disappointed.

We were upgraded to a pool view suite and it was excellent. Well equipped kitchen, spacious lounge and bedroom, and a wonderful bathroom.

We ate lunch here a few times but not dinner as there are some really good restaurants within a 15 minute walk of the hotel,

We had some great times at happy hour watching the sun go down and spending time with new friends.

Finally, what made the holiday for us was the staff; absolutely fantastic. A special mention for Elran and Ali at the bar and Jackie at reception - you really did make our stay on your beautiful island magical. We will be back, hopefully next Easter!!

Room Tip: Pool view rooms are great as you also get a view of the sea
